@at7523
@at7523 3 жыл бұрын
the story is about his abuse as a child and how it manifested, the book is about his struggle to deal with his insecurities and depression. He actually points out in the book that he had become the thing he most despised and his realisation of that, the book lays out his transition into transcending violence and his inner personal thought process at this time. If you look at his other works (books, podcasts, film) the profound deepness of his life story is elaborated on and broadens the scope of his first book.

Another point I’d like to mention regarding something that Shaun made about walking over a bridge with some friends who were more than capable of fighting yet they didn’t rise to the challenge because of their inner belief and faith I’d like to mention this and on this day is so very apt it’s unreal as Iv never spoken about this before but many years ago I was at a Liverpool game waiting for my mate to arrive with my ticket to get in and as I stood there on my own I bumped into a friend of mine and a friend of shauns,as I stood talking to our mate and his mates a large group of zulus ( Birmingham city hooligan firm) came towards us and absolute madness ensued,fighting everywhere,now during my younger days that would of been my idea of heaven but due to hillsbourgh I swore I’d never fight at a football match again because I felt like it was disrespectful to the people we lost as the government blamed it on hooligans from Liverpool at the time which was a total lie so as the madness erupted I genuinely just stood as calm as I’d ever been in my life and thought unless someone tries to actually punch stab or kick me I am not going to take my hands out of my pockets plus it was freezing but I swear it was like I was being protected by our lord because not one of them approached me or lay a finger on me it was like I was invisible in the dead centre of a riot,I found out that the same mob had stabbed 7 of our fans only minutes earlier outside the Albert pub round the corner but I’d always looked at those five minutes like an out of body experience to the point of ridiculousness because I normally would of reacted out of nervousness as well as adrenaline,since that day Iv never panicked or reacted to any offer of violence at the match again which to be fair is like a junkie refusing a drug so it does happen,if you remain completely at peace within yourself at all times wars can literally pass you by and insanity can be tamed by peace you just have to totally believe in yourself and your intention at the time...peace to all ✌️

OMG Geoff was abused at the same age I was and it was only one night for me as well, I didn't know that could happen, so I put it down to it being males, all my friends were boys when I was a kid, I stopped speaking to all of them even my best friend because I was so scared. I was petrified of middle aged men and I'm certain I had some sort of mental break down because I thought men were following me when they clearly were not. My parents rang the police because I told them I was being followed, one police officer knew something else was going on but I denied it. I didn't want my Mum to start screaming and shouting at the abusers family and I also didn't really understand what happened or had the vocabulary to articulate it, I just knew it was wrong. I didn't tell anyone until I was eighteen which was the worst thing I could've done because he probably hurt other kids and it was my own thoughts over and over again. But! I did get fully over in my late twenties.
