Here is a scene from the Doctor Who Television Movie - 1996. This film had a lot of potential, but it would be almost 10 years before we would see a regular return of our favourite Time Lord.

I do like what they did with the interior of the Tardis in this one, that visual of the ceiling turning into a planetarium was just so freaking cool

The Movie was flawed but had good things which seem to have inspired New Who, like the new TARDIS set, which I love. Also the mistakes they made helped New Who learn. The 8th Doctor is well acted, I am getting into Big Finish.

they should make like, 5 or 6 episodes with McGann showing what happened between the movie and the 2005 seasons. In the last episode they could also show maybe his regeneration, and the beginning of the time war.

I couldn't help but laugh... really hard when that cop went into the TARDIS.

As strange as it might sound, Paul McGann is my favorite Doctor... So-so script/movie, but he left such an impression on me, which really shows how good an actor he really is... Shame he won't be back for the 50ieth anniversary... Though I wouldn't mind him popping up in Series 8!

Dammit Paul was amazing. Still is and I wish he had more onscreen time

I have listened to those, and it just made it even more clear that McGann is one incredible actor!

I loved Paul McGann as The Doctor and while the production had a lot of flaws, looking, at you Mr Segal, there was some intriguing features Such as the Wikipedia of human history that 8 appears to have stuffed in his head. He knows so much stuff about individuals, it was cool yet creepy

The TV Movie: low on plot, GREAT on style! I definitely agree with ya about the TARDIS having a great steampunk look. In fact, as a long term fan, i'd say that it's one of my favourite console rooms. Even though the old series did have a couple of companions from outside the UK, you can't really blame the show for having most of the stories set in the UK. Us Brits are ridiculously proud, so naturally we would have the UK as the centre of the universe! lol

That's why I chose this particular scene. I love that whole TARDIS is "bigger on the inside thing"!

@AliveStorm93 I'm hoping to hear a bunch of them sometime. I have a promo disc that included part 1 of "Storm Warning". I definitely intend to get more of them sometime. I'm glad Eight didn't fade into obscurity and that he made it into canon. McGann was definitely well suited for the role.

As far as I know, and I checked fairly recently this movie is not licensed for Region 1 USA and there are no plans to in the future. This aired on Fox back in 1996 or '97 and I could only watch it now by downloading a .torrent copy. Also, looks like all the torrent copies I've come across are VHS quality, like this clip of mine. I put this on here originally in hopes of rallying the other DW fans into getting BBC America and Fox to re-release it in DvD for our region.

actually, there are. Writers continued the Doctor Who mythos after this movie using three different plattforms. There was a book series called "BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures", there were comic stories published in the Doctor Who Magazine and since '01 there are Audio Dramas. The book series ended shortly after the first season of the new show and the magazine switched over to the then current doctor. the audio dramas however keep producing new adventures of the eighth doctor to this very day.

@the0dd1 The outfit is Victorian and that fits with the Steampunk motif, so I would consider it to be Steampunk. Basically, consider the Victorian era culture with modern technology, that's Steampunkvas I understand it.

If only we could get a full live action series about the 8th doctor it would be awesome sherdon smith would have to be there shes the best actor to a play companion since cathrine tate and it would fill in gaps and give us that extra fix of doctor during the months hes not on

High speed chase? The Runaway Bride; TARDIS vs Taxi. The Doctor committing Grand Theft Auto? The Eleventh Hour; He nicks a fire engine. The Master in sunglasses? Okay, fair enough on that one. But how else cover up those eyes? :P

Loved McGann's Doctor. Shame this wasn't better written. I'm really fond of Eccleston's Doctor, and David Tennant's tenure would have been much better if he'd been written and directed better. I have to say Tennant's first season was his best, before they started writing the same notes for him to hit all the time, forever hyper.

I gave the movie a B + rating mostly for sentimental reasons, & it brought Doctor Who to a broader audience, & maybe convinced the BBC to do " New Who ", as some call it.

For the longest time I honestly thought the actress who played Grace was Gillian Anderson from the X-Files. I know, really really stupid, but the film is rather dark. (Literally, I sometimes can't even make out objects in the night scenes.) Her voice is completely off though.
@johnleejohnson15 жыл бұрын
Really? I thought the whole American setting was a breath of fresh air. Something different. I mean, he's an Alien from another planet and all his companions just "happen" to be from the UK? Personally, in retrospect, I thought that people just didn't give it enough of a chance. Plus, I really like the whole Steampunk thing he has going on in this film.

To this day I maintain that McGann is a better Doctor than Eccleston or Tennant, and while the RTD era has had some better scripts, everything the TVM got wrong, RTD has gotten wrong and then some.
