For my 8th grader this year, history and English were rough for us. Everything else has gone great with no changes.

My kids love checklists in their planners and then log what they have done!!! I prefer it as they get the work done!!! I think TGTB is a fast paced math and we saw issues at a point wich was different for each kid I had in it!!! I now have no kids doing it!!! Nothing wrong with a lower level writing curriculum!!! I love get my kids to read science books!!!

There are things that I learned using TGATB. I know it can be a great curriculum for some. But, our time had come :) science books are the best!

Going to order the Bible investigators for my 10 year old. Had not seen that before thanks so much for sharing. Language arts is always a hard subject for us as well. We have switched quite a bit. We plan to try winning with writing this coming year. Clear Water Press is a writing company I am going to try as well. I don’t hear much about them, but they are definitely worth mentioning as it is more of a creative writing style, which I feel can really give kids confidence!😊

I totally get the struggle with trying get a kid to take on the responsibility of scheduling their own work out. I'm still working on that with my 17 year old. I put all his work for the week in a binder. It's up to him to get it all done. He could do it all in a few days and be done, or he can drag it out till Friday night.

We started her in C (she was in 5th grade when we started homeschooling). I will keep doing this as long as it’s working for us.
