Today I will be sharing all the science and social studies curriculums that I will be using with my four children, who will be in 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grades next school year. We will be doing these "mish-mash" style with some pieces as a family and some things will be done by individual children independently. I'll let you know what I picked and why I think it will work for my children next year!

I just recently looked at Guest Hollow because I have heard you talk about it several times. It looks phenomenal! Definitely something I am keeping in mind for various courses that we want to do.

I first heard about them regarding Chemistry in the Kitchen. We were no where near doing that course, so at first I didn’t look into them too much. But, when I did, their sciences for elementary and middle school really intrigued me. Now I can say that their science have been our favorites.

Looks like a lot of great picks. For your astronomy unit you are creating you might be interested in looking at some of the books/videos from Masterbooks, they actually have an astronomy curriculum for high school. They have some good books and resources included. I would be interested in using the Earth science unit ready when you have it ready.

We did sonlight F and loved it!!!we love geography as well!!! We may do the guest hollow high school geography!!! I’ve been focusing on a mission and geography focus with my kids!!! We are doing beautiful feet history of science but it’s taking us longer!!! My older kids read story of the world together but they didn’t get very far!!! We switched to horrible histories!!! We are doing guest hollow botany very slowly as a health credit mainly!!! I’m focusing on nutrition with it!!! My kids chose the books they read for them when possible!!!! The chocolate book i didn’t give the choice tho!!! I wanted them to learn the history of Cadburys!!! History books they chose tho!!! Nothing wrong with no guide even though my teen athlete goes mad at me when we don’t use a guide!!!

Oh... I like the idea of using the Botony as a health credit... I'm storing that in my brain "database"! Thanks for the suggestion! We do seem like like a lot of the same curriculum!

Is guest hollow christian

As a company… yes. But as far as how “Christian” each course is varies a lot. They generally do use a lot of secular books on their courses as well. I think the course that seems the most “Christian” to me is their biology course. Junior Anatomy had a lot of secular content and I’m not remembering anything specifically Christian. I’m Actions and Reactions, their spine is an Apologia book (so Christian) but most of the supplementary books are neutral or secular. As for the Geography, History, and Chemistry shown in this video, I would say it’s mostly neutral or secular resources. So, if you specially want a Christian curriculum, I would probably not go with Guest Hollow. If you are looking for secular, they do clearly indicate when books or resources are “Christian” and they are easy to avoid. And if you are like me and just want you kids to learn from a variety of books and have those conversations about life and faith as they encounter it in their schoolwork, Guest Hollow is a perfect balance.
