The Vectra vxr is underrated.. I love my 300bhp remapped one.. nope its not a track day motor but its a fecking quick useable and practical everyday barnstormer !

Don't care what this review says, its personal preference. It may not be as good as the Mondeo, but I prefer the looks and the feel of this car.

Had a mondeo for 3 months , biggest pile of shit I've ever had!!!!!! Focus after it just as bad . Will never own another ford .

I love sleepers, I had 2 Mps's, absolutely loved them when they were working properly but the engines were just too soft to handle the performance. Both engines suffered catastrophic failure, its a shame because I love the look of them, they've aged well, they have decent spec and great handling. Would love to find a clean one and put a Nissan GTR engine in it, but prob would need a winning lotto ticket first 😂😂

I'm no professional racing driver but who goes through a corner especially with traction control turned off flat out. correct me if I'm wrong but you brake before the bend and accelerate out of it not through it especially not flat out. just seems like a deliberate attempt to slate Vauxhall just because Jeremy is a ford fan he did the same with the Astra h vxr

Because they acting that Ford has to be the best... but even then look at the times table, Mondeo 1:34.5 and Vectra 1:35.3 so its not that bad how Clarkson describes, AND im curious how lap time would be with traction control ON

i heard they pulled the fuse for the traction control and that also controls the suspension, hence they fucked the handling up. dont know if thats true or not but they were DEFFINATELY exaggeratting that wheelspin and understeer

When I sell my current car, these two are contenders. Mondeo and Mazda. Loving the Looks of the ST220 but the Power of the MPS. Got 244bhp now so I'd hate to drop!

Funny part to me is that he makes fun of the lap time of 1.35.3 but the Mondeo which has 'superior handling' did the lap in 1.34.5, that is barely even a difference, the Mazda was like 3 seconds quicker which that is a difference but i'd pick the Veccy over Mondeo anytime

Had both , got rid of the mondeo in 3 months, dreadful car , everything broke , wouldn't start , stupid bonnet catch that broke , had a focus after it , exact same problems with that , vauxhall are far better cars , better built , more reliable.

almost 1 second difference is huge... clearly the Mazda is the best choice in terms of the speed and handling but the vectra being the fastest in straights but the slowest out of all of them in circuit speaks volumes of how bad the car handles.

I wonder if they bothered to press the OPC button which sets the suspension and the steering. I have the 2.0 turbo running on ethanol 245 hp and when you set the suspension to hard it's very good on twisty roads and doesn't wobble around like that. The OPC should be even better. Something must have been wrong, or stig can't drive fwd. Mocking Vauxhall has always been a Top Gear shtick.

This is crap. I own a Vectra VXR and it’s so clever round the corners and the way it puts its power to the road. For a front wheel drive it’s very very impressive! Top Gear must have pulled fuses out for it to be this bad.

I own a vxr vectra this is the biggest load of horse shit i have ever listened too! This has to be fake, my veccy has out paced alot of so called hot hatches round bends its 1 of the safest secure cars i have owned even out of my 3 series and audis i have had

Had a vectra sri turbo and a 3.2 gsi as a stop gap and a daily for a while few years ago .. think this was a bit too set up to stunt the vectra or the Stig is just a shit driver 🤷. Its not best handling car by anymeans but you can drive them better than that. The GSi beats a ST220 without much effort so nevermind what a VXR would do 🙄
