Not bad design. If you got rid of the maids room you could fix the lay out better. Then you wouldn’t have the dining area too close to you kitchen and could fit an island bench in the kitchen and put your dirty laundry/ butlers pantry inside rather than on the back porch like it was an after thought. I still think keep the toilet down stairs just not a full bathroom.

under te stairs you can build powder room/ visitors bathroom and make bathroom next to maid's room as attached bathroom and use it if you use it for family without maids. And keep it as even guest room. like if you have your parents and as they are old they need attached bathroom bedroom in Groundfloor.

Most of us can’t afford a maid so it is a bit in- necessary to have maids quarters

If you don't want to call it maids room, then call it visitor's room. Or don't you have friends too? House needs to be functional in case a day you decide to do sale it.
