9.500Rpm VW Scirocco Mk1 || Amazing Sound FWD Monster

While participating in a very limited number of races, Roland Eder and his newly built VW Scirocco 16V were super impressive and very quick off the mark in each event they entered, as we can see here on both St. Anton and St. Agatha, where the duo was able to secure podium spot on the super competitive E1-2000 Class but also position themselves on the final Top 10 among all Touring Cars present.
Powered by a Naturally Aspirated 2.0L 16V engine producing over 280Hp at very audible 9.500Rpm, this FWD machine benefits from its low weight (surely under 800Kg although we d not have the precise number) coupled to the fantastic chassis and low Gravity Center of the Mk1 Scirocco. Hopefully we´ll see much more of it next year and possibly on an even more evolved spec....

Fast,light ,planted,fantastic sound and so cool-Mk1 Scirocco's for hillclimb are truly impressive and so beautiful.Roland Eder's unit is pure embodiment of that.Along with great speed and handling like it's on rails,along with nice engine note from Scirocco,Roland's skills are to be enjoyed and appreciated just the same.Very few car/driver combos can make me smile and impress me and these two are among them.

All cars of this size and period were very light. Not like "todays light", but for real.

@@jareknowak8712 this car didnt start off at 800kg. But yes cars of the past were lighter and less restricted compared to todays models respectively.

I thought it was some VW-Busa ReFrank runnin on crystal meth. To witness that kind of power from an ABF is awesome. He certainly keeps it in the blister zone.

@@joe125ful I see.Why you think people race these cars?Along with them beeing affordable,they also have great chassis and overall are great base for building fast race car.It's nice to see some out of the hook builds,like SLK you adore,but cars you mentioned are raced on hillclimbs ever since they entered production.Besides,despite they're usual on hillclimb,old Scirocco's and Kadett C's are such cool cars.They got that vibe which you don't get from some other cars,at last that's my opinion.
