Wagner, thank you very much for this. Had no idea appending a start time to the end of a KZfaq URL could make a recording begin wherever one wanted. Very neat way of organising long talks into segments. Namaste!

What is the point of this? So people can "skip" to exactly what they want to hear? There is something to be said for the "whole" which is made up of the parts. Do we really need a "Google" attitude to protect us from having to hear anything we haven't pre-decided we want to hear? I guess people who need to skip right to 5:04 are not going to bother reading the book Full Catastrophe Living which would change your life -- the teeny sound-bite is not going to change anything. People need to spend time with ideas, not rush to the point at 5:04 and move on at 9:00.

What helped me is to stop trying to control how i feel. And the only way you can do that, is by realizing that you cant control it anyway. If you understand the futility of something, thats when it stops. And if you stop fighting , you have the capacity to sense being again. It is not an emotion but feels very sweet and alive. Live feels fresh and meaningful again.

I think the biggest probelm with mindfulness is that people often believe that the acceptance or letting go part is the same like ignoring problems that are there.
@fry5544
@fry5544 5 күн бұрын
🕊️ Or it means letting the problems “win”. Which is an Ego-based way of thinking, anyway, which always causes suffering. It just means accepting the problems/reality as it is, which makes it easier to work through them, instead of fighting against them. Peace to you, & to me, and to us all. 🕊️

I accept emotional and physical pain so that I can look into it and see what is has to teach me, so that I can then let it go through treating the root causes instead of the symptoms. I am not like a monkey grasping a banana that traps my hand, I am like a quicksilver fish that twists easily free. I trust myself to know how to live. I am patient enough to sit with the moments along my path - to absorb the beauty everywhere, to be still and blissful in the midst of adventure. Life IS an adventure, here in this place, to discover all parts of ourselves while we enjoy our surroundings, our experiences, our relationships, our lessons ....... I am grateful for life, for love, for wild nature, for my mind and body which can dance and share the joys of what we can be.

Damon, the 9 point summary misses the point. I went from a suicidal severely depressed chronic pain sufferer to a fairly normal person again through my mindfulness practice. JKZ caught the attention of this skeptic with hard science. I had nothing to lose so I tried it. I cannot say that I am in eternal bliss or enlightenment, but I don't want to kill myself anymore. That seems to be a fair reward for spending 30 min a day in meditation.

Why do people always come along and cheapen this fantastic work with mythological religion.
@sethfoster7603
@sethfoster7603 5 жыл бұрын
Was that another thinly veiled threat of hell from a religious person? Very ‘christian’. Which of the thousands of mythological ‘gods’ is the one you believe in? We’re all going the same way when we die whether atheist or not, the same place you were before you were born ie nowhere.
@sethfoster7603
@sethfoster7603 5 жыл бұрын
Catherine Correia if we/scientists can’t figure out something (yet), the answer isn’t mythological tales. Religions were created by man to control man, they only maintain their existence by adults indoctrinating children and making them fearful before they can form their own views. Have you ever thought how amazing it is that you happened to be born into a culture/country/family that believes in the god that’s the ‘right’ one, imagine if you were born into one of those religions that worships one of the gods that isn’t, what a fortunate coincidence for you.

Present moment non-judgement is a huge goal for me. Because it's through constant judgement of others and things that bring disappointment and anxiety. I'd like to let go of that.
@arslongavitabreves
@arslongavitabreves 3 жыл бұрын
You can, even at this point. You may not always feel that you're "non-judging", but like meditation practice taught us, we can always bring our attention back to where we want it to be. Doesn't matter where or how long it has gone to. It's three years already since you've commented and saw this video, and throughout those years, you might've completely forgotten about meditation practice altogether. That's fine, you can bring yourself back to it again. As many times as necessary.

This kind of discernment is like seeing through the emotional self, down one level deeper, and seeing how things really are. You are no longer dragged away by emotional judgements, but discerning and understanding rationally, you know why, you know the relationships between one thing one thought and another, in other words, you sort of understand yourself and things in way not possible when you are driven by your desires and preconceptions, and there is peace and clarity in that.
