Hello Tony! Thank you for your video, we were in Madrid in February and tried the daily menu from your recommendation in three restaurants. Perfect service, food, we took your advice and always booked an appointment. We have been to the following: Terramundi, La Charta Taberna, El Pazo de Lugo. Another day at La Charta Taberna we ate the famous dish of Cachopo Campeon 2020. It was very delicious. Thank you for your museum and sightseeing suggestions. Good day Tony, my trip to Barcelona & Madrid has come to an end as I travel home tomorrow but i would like to thank you for all the expert advise provided through your channel which made my plans so much easier. Unfortunately it rained in Toledo all day yesterday so the walking tour did not go as planned. We had the opportunity however to eat at El Trebol in Toledo & Terra Mundi in Madrid ans the meals were great. Thanks again greatly appreciated.

I went to La Barca Del Salamanca and had a wonderful menu del dia lunch - thank you for the recommendation! It was by far the best menu del dia that I had while in BCN.

Great video. I am in madrid and took your advice. Went to O Pazo de Lugo for lunch menu, right before my visit to museo reina sofia. The restaurant has a great vibe, it is also a wine bar called La Canibal. It’s very close to the museum. Thank you for the recommendation.

We find you to be one of the best KZfaq travel channels, so thank you so much for all of your hard work and fantastic insights into traveling in Spain and Portugal. We had one quick question with regards to one of your Menu del Dia recommendations (La Charca Taberna). We were thinking of going to La Charca Taberna for dinner, and were wondering how long a typical dinner there might last (e.g., one hour, or two hours). Or does that depend on us and the pace of the service? We were just curious. Thank you once again for everything. 👍

Hello, really glad to hear you like our work! I guess you know you won't get a menu del día at dinner time, so the length of your dinner service will entirely depend on how many dishes you order and how long it takes to get them ready. But I think anything between 1 hour and 2 hours would be about right. All the very best to you and your wife!

Yes! We recognize that the menu del dia is not available for dinner. We were looking for a nice dinner option that was nearby a flamenco performance that we were thinking of attending. Hola Tony, we ate at o Pazo alacarte for late lunch. Then, penalver lunch the following day, paella was good, but no menu del dia anymore.

Is it possible in future videos to also give the names of the dishes in Spanish. Here in Southern Spain not many Restaurants understand English and I like to know what I'm eating! Thank you. 😀

We'll think of a way of presenting at the same time Spanish and English terms (it's cumbersome and hinders the effort to read material on screen). Whenever we've given names in Spanish we've received complaints. You will find the names in Spanish on the menu, here we preferred to put translations as the main purpose of the video was not to serve as a dictionary but as a guide to what you can expect on those daily menus.

Thank you, Michael. I would say in 50-60% of the times there will be a menu in English, but you cannot take it for granted. If in doubt, ask "¿tienen menú en inglés?

Hi Tony, thanks for all the great advice! Traveling from USA to Madrid and Barcelona with a group of six in late October/early November. Do restaurants accommodate requests for separate checks?

Good question, Laura. If you want to split the payment, say 50/50, when the check arrives, that's easy to accommodate and won't be an issue. But if you want separate checks, then you'd better tell the waiter at the beginning of the meal, tell him you want "cuentas separadas". All the best!

Kimberly, by law all restaurants are obliged to display information related to allergies in their menus. As for dietary needs, that's a huge concept encompassing many different needs. At the time of ordering, in most restaurants, you can ask for details and request for specific items of food to be removed. Celiacs should look for specific restaurants.
