Didn't he realise that the 'flashlight extension' was not just to conceal the knife but it is actually designed to break glass in an emergency situation and the front of the flashlight was an attack head. You use the strobe setting to disorientate the attacker and use the attack head to hit the attacker

The tripod flashlight is also nice for when you need to light up the dark insides of biomedical instruments, I for one want one of these when digging around inside the Phadia 250 looking for wells that might have become stuck in the incubation wheel.
