No. This bowl season has proved that those Group of 5 teams don’t belong in with the big dawgs like Bama/Clemson/Ohio State/even Iowa (all would kill Cincinnati). This isn’t a playground, this a warzone and if you’re undefeated but have gone against crap teams this is the type of game you’ll see happening. UCF, App. State, and Boise State are the only non-power 5 teams that have a chance in the playoffs every year.

@@chrispitos What you mean? Cincinnati QB Made some rookie mistakes and the coaches made some real terrible mistakes. This for Georgia, as far as great seasons go, was not a good season and was full of ups and downs and straight up terrible moments. Yet they still come into the second-half and play better all around against Cincinnati.

Virtually every other form of football has a full playoff with 8 or more teams: all of the lower divisions of college football, the NFL, high school, etc. The four team format was just done to carefully change to a larger playoff format without upsetting all of the financial interests in the Div 1 collegiate post-season. An 8 team playoff is definitely coming, likely after 2026.

Good too see so many salty fans mad at Georgia for winning this game. It wasn’t a pretty win but a great comeback with Georgia beating a great Cincy team with many starters opted out. I think it shows the opposite of what some are saying due to having not played in a while that even when rusty Georgia is a good team. Next year Georgia will definitely be the favorite in the East and hopefully have a bounce back year.

I would have run the read option with 1:41 left and 3rd and 2. Possibly you get the 1st down and you keep the clock running. The incomplete pass was a killer.

This game clearly exposes a flaw in the current playoff system. The committee seems to have made an error in believing that this unbeaten G5 team should be ranked higher than the 3rd/4th best SEC team.

I don't know if I would go so far as to say it is a flaw in the current playoff system. Are there flaws in the current playoff system? God, yes. But I don't think this is one of them. This has been a VERY difficult season to assess inter-conference strength due to everyone playing strictly conference schedules. Every other season Cincinnati would have had non-con games with Power 5 teams and it would have been much clearer where they stood in comparison.

To throw the ball with 1:40 left with 3rd and 2 was a big mistake, it was incomplete and it stopped the clock. Bad play call, they should have run the read option.

@@gramps5157 I agree. Even if you don't make the first down, UGA was out of time outs so every second off that clock was precious to them. They could have punted at almost under 1 minute. And that go-ahead FG was kicked with 7 seconds on the clock. Yes, UGA would have adjusted their play calling if they had lost almost 40 seconds on that 3rd down play but that still would have been asking a lot and probably would have come down to a hail mary.

Lifelong Georgia fan here, Cinci played incredibly tonight. We only won because of some terrible coaching at the end of the game for Cincinnati, we were outplayed, and outcoached until that point. Cincinnati would’ve offered Alabama and maybe even Ohio state more challenging games than they played today. Expand the playoffs.

i don't think i've ever seen a closer game. If that field goal by UGA early was just a few inches to the right, its not good and cinci wins. if the cinci field goal early wasn't blocked, cinci wins. If cinci had milked the play clock on the last drive, they win. if they run the ball on that third down at the end, they win. if Burton catches the pass on the 10 yard line with 8 seconds left, the clock runs out and cinci wins. and obviously, if the FG wasn't good, cinci wins. So many things had to go perfectly for UGA to pull off the W EDIT: And when the cinci offensive lineman got ejected for an unnecesarry, boneheaded late hit/targeting, his replacment gave up a few sacks including a Forced Fumble

I think the Cincinnati defender who picked up the intercepted ball from the ground did not have his knee down. I think it was just the camera angle that had the refs fooled...

This is why the Group of 5 should get their own bowl games together. They should start their own playoff system and I would say Cincinnati beats UCF and then App. State beats Liberty (who just beat Coastal Carolina) and App State (who could dominate anyone and is now 6-0 in bowl games). And I think it would be a close game with App State winning against Liberty 45-38. Cincinnati beats UCF 34-28. I also think if Boise State plays they’d make it deep and could be dangerous against anyone because of their speed and strength.

That whole sequence on third down on their last posession was fireable by Fickell. You snap it with 17 secs on the play clock and throw incomplete to stop the clock to leave 1:35ish on the clock. If you ran it down to 1 snapped it and ran the ball and punted there would've been under 40 secs for uga to do something. Fucking fireable coaching

I have noticed in a few early 2022 mock drafts that Daniels is a top 10 pick which is just too high in my opinion. To me JT Daniels is like Kyle Trask. Solid arm and accuracy but hasn’t shown anything special. Right now I have a 2nd-3rd round grade on him.

Cincinnati would have won if they had a decent QB. Ritter is a total SLUG, slow as molasses. Also, Cincinnati needs to realize this isn't touch football. You actually have to TACKLE the opponent.

announcer, "ya gottb be smart." since you are not playing, the player is giving it all he has and can forget and lose control. happens all the time. so sometimes players are playing smart can lose control for the moment. so don't judge.
