9 holes to DECIDE if I should play TAKOMO irons or not?

If you've been following my channel lately you'll know that I've been testing the new Takomo 101T irons.
Here is the second part to my first round with them on the course - I turned in 34, so can I Break 70 or will I crash and burn at the beautiful Boomerang Golf Club in Sydney.

So what is the outcome, sticking with the 525s or gaming the 101t? I currently have the 525s but have developed more heels strikes so thinking maybe I need a more forgiving club.

Just hitting 3 of Takomo’s wedges, Skyforger. Like them pretty well. They remind me of blades. The more I play them the better they feel. Sounded a little tingly at first. Hit the center and it’s just a click, very nice. Enjoy your films. Thanks!

Enjoyed the round. Good to see someone try out new clubs on the course in lieu of in a studio. Concerning the pin out versus in. Have you ever lined up a birdie putt and have it hit the pin and ricochet off and not go in? If the wind is blowing, moving that pin around, I pull the pin.

@@dylangrummich137 Hi. Said 6-8 weeks. Arrived during the 8th week. I was also v anxious., even getting in touch with Takomo. Everything was fine, don't panic. And they are still great clubs.

Not sure if you watch Golfmates by Liam Harrison from UK, and he does a hidden gems series. Would you consider doing these in Australia? They are excellent vlogs to watch and I think we should have them done around here. What do you think? Do you have the time to do them? Love the content you are producing I have a lot to catch up on viewing your videos. I really enjoyed watching the reviews on the Takomo irons. Not to mention I’m a local in the area that you seem to film in. Bring on more please Jon.

Glad you found the channel and like the videos!! I've seen the odd Golf Mates video, yes. There are a few vlogs on my channel, hopefully you'll enjoy them. I'm trying to work out what people enjoy and not in those types of videos. I like making them.

Jon, are you hitting the ball longer across your whole bag after the speed and footwork training? I am considering following some of the training you did and wondering if the gains have held or if they were temporary, and if they applied through your irons. Thanks!

Hi. Yes they definitely helped and stuck. I do cycle on and off them - my sense is that if you stop completely then you'll drop back a fraction but still better than you were. I totally believe in the benefits of over speed training having done it. Hope this helps.

@@JonPerkinsGolf thanks, very helpful. I think I need to get on the speed training. I took the last 18 years off playing regularly (went from playing a lot to 2-3 times per year for social reasons) and after 6 month of regular play, lessons and all I hit the ball shorter with modern clubs (my new irons are several degrees stronger loft) and balls. Would love to see the kind of gains you have!

That's brilliant to hear, thank you!! I use Shot Tracer Pro - you can use an app on your phone or do it via a desktop. Personally I find the desktop a lot easier and it doesn't kill your phone battery.

Jon, you couldn't even buy a putt on the back 9. Those irons seem to be doing really well. Do you think you would prefer the 101s or are the 101Ts working best for you?

Tell me about it 🤣 Yeah I'm enjoying the 101T's. I've not tried the 101's but I think I've heard they might be a fraction longer but maybe a little less workable. But hard to say without hitting them.

Takomo comes from Finland. Like your father, I have lost distance ( 73 y ) numbers quite the same, perhaps must begin that training.

How’d you end up picking which shaft to get?

As far as possible I went with the same specs as I have in my Ping irons. The stiff shaft from memory had 2 options and I wanted to try lighter than my current ones, so I went with the lite stiff options. It was about as scientific as that... 😂
