I like to fish a swimbait on pressured waters. Fish get conditioned to rattles and blades and learn to know those baits and just leave them alone for the most part. But silent baits like swimbaits can be really productive because they tend to be more accurate to the bait fish the bass are feeding on and the bass aren't as put off by them.

I slammed Bass last Fall with these... And I was able to confirm everything Randy said here, and then some. I found that I didn't need clear water, with one small change... I was catching a bunch of fish (nice ones too) in cool water (50 to 55 degrees) with less than 1 foot of visibility by changing to an Okashira Screwhead to add a little flash and wobble. I paired with a 3" Spark Shad, in the shad color, and I put a spot of Chartreuse on the tail... Couldn't stop catching them! I fished one spot for 4 hours, caught over 30 largemouth, most were over 2 pounds, several were over 3 pounds, and I got a 4.5 pounder too! It's my new favorite bass bait!

That spark shad on the screwhead works really well from spring to fall here in KY! Awesome bait. But with the screwhead, you have to glue the rubber keeper behind the spinner to keep said spinner in place quite a bit!

do you like the underspin on these little swimbaits when its darker water or just do something different all together?
@jonsnow782
@jonsnow782 2 жыл бұрын
Here in PA, I’ve been jacking them in super cold water on a spark shad with an owner flashy swimmer. The blade on the underspin helps keep it down near the bottom and just slow roll it. The 3 inch spark shad on the underspin caught numbers, the 4 inch caught the photo worthy bass

Finesse swimbait is probably my favorite finesse technique. Naturally narrowed it down to 4 baits: 3 mentioned above and Easy Shiner. Other baits in this category just don't get bit that much. Sometimes if the water is gin clear Fish Arrow Flash J may be a good addition with super lightweight jighead. When it comes to three and a half inch to five inch swimbaits the bait are the same as well for me.

What fish do you primarily fish for in Russia?
@valentinmalinin
@valentinmalinin 2 жыл бұрын
@@randyblaukatintuitive basically same as all Europe. Mostly perch, when they get over a pound they are pretty fun to catch. Also pike, walleye and asp (predator carp basically). We got a really big problem with poaching and catch a release is more of exception than the rule so fishing challenging. For a good fishing experience you have to fly to other parts of the country like Siberia to Kola peninsula to fish for Taimen, Arctic Char, King Salmon.

@@valentinmalinin I wonder why nobody has introduced large mouth bass to Russia? They seem to do pretty well in other European countries and South Africa
@valentinmalinin
@valentinmalinin 2 жыл бұрын
@@randyblaukatintuitive simple answer is it's really cold, there was an experiment back USSR in one lake near Sochi, despite it's one of the southernmost points of Russia it's still on the same latitude as Minnesota. For some weird reason they decided to introduce largies and not smallies so they died in few years during severe cold winter.

Why not just use a texas rig rather than a jig head? I know an open hook is better off shore but when beating the bank or around cover why not use the texas rig? A good swimbait will not roll.
@willyoufishwithme1532
@willyoufishwithme1532 2 жыл бұрын
Certainly could around cover I suppose. A good jig head just looks better, swims better than a bullet weight and buried hook, and there's zero need for burying a hook when fishing for suspended fish in open water. Suspended fish in deep trees is a different story.

“Wait a second, that fish has TWO SETS of eyes! Ive never seen a fish with that many eyes, mehhhh I don’t think this is such a good idea” Meanwhile I’m out there throwing husky medusas for musky WHICH LITERALLY LOOK LIKE NO ORGANISM EVER, musky and pike love hitting them with absolute violence, catfish destroy them once in a while and even bass. What kind of bass are you fishing for that aren’t going to be okay with two sets of eyes?
