Am I in the minority that I am very uncomfortable asking for help in paying for a wedding? I mean, it's a step forward for my and my fiance's relationship, not anyone else's so I'd feel really guilty about asking for money. I'd rather go without things that I want rather than ask. Am I crazy?

176Blue completely agree. I could never ask anyone for money towards my wedding. If someone wants to offer then great, but I’m not expecting a penny and definitely wouldn’t ask.

I completely get you. I think like that too, I feel it should be the couple that should pay for it. That's why after watching all these videos I think I'd rather elope; it will for sure be a lot less cheaper

I agree with you! I don't think anyone is obligated to you give money nor should you expect people to give you money. If someone wants to contribute to your wedding expenses, great! But I'd personally never ask someone to give me money.

I would only consider asking for money for something I didn't care if it was at my wedding, but someone really wanted it there. Such as an extra guest that I had never met or maybe a tradition that wasn't really important to me, but I could have. Like if I don't want it, it's not happening. But if I like it, but not enough to pay for it and you have to have it? You can have that if you pay for it. It really keeps parents and grandparents from pushing too much as they understand that every decision costs money.

No. My mom wanted to contribute a certain amount to the wedding. I accepted an amount that's 60% of what she originally offered, because I feel like my fiance and I can handle it. She's also covering my wedding shower and our rehearsal dinner, so she's contributed more than enough

You should do a video on wedding music! I’m a ceremony musician, often clients are super confused about how to arrange ceremony music and how it’s different from reception music.

My sister spent over $30,000 on her wedding and did not have a wedding coordinator to organize the day of events. IT WAS A MESS! Most of the people at the wedding she didn't even know or love and in the end she didn't get the wedding she always dreamed of. My sister in law just had a small wedding at her fiancées house. Tent rental and chairs for the outdoor ceremony and indoor brunch reception. Thank God it was at 11:30 in the morning because the south is crazy hot and humid in July. Diane her coordinator was the mvp that day was as perfectly executed as a wedding day should be.

Could you do a video on how to put together a seating chart for the reception (ie, how to figure out who to put together at a table, should there be conversation cards, how to separate people who may not get along, etc).

Hey, Jamie! I've heard you mention in other videos that you wore a used gown to your wedding. This is what I'm hoping to do. I’ve always thought it was weird to ask family members to contribute to a wedding. My parents got married in 1996 for under $100. They’ve been married for 23 years. My fiancé and I just got engaged last weekend and are getting married in 2021. We don’t care about a fancy wedding. We just want to be married. Plain and simple ❤️

I would love to hear any advice you have or whether or not you’ve had experiences with people planning a wedding in college... what are the most important things? Would a couple do anything different in college vs. after graduation? How to plan in college because you have to find that balance somehow?? Just like everything haha 😂 help!

Hi Jaime! Like most couples, we have a budget for our wedding. We went to spend less than $8000. My question is about the tipping. Do we really need to tip the vendors for the service that we are paying large amounts of money to? Also, do we really need to feed them? Thanks! 😊

We're hoping to get married either fall 2019 or spring 2020, and I have no problem cutting my guest list. My partner wants to invite all our college friends (most of whom we haven't seen in a few years). It's very frustrating, because it's such a huge expense. I don't have anything against them, but some of them didn't even invite us to their wedding. I feel no obligation to invite people I'm no longer close with. *so frustrating*

Yeah well me and my fiancé were paying for everything ourselves, and bam to my surprise my mum and grandmother paid for wedding dress and veil, my grandmother paid for half of the bridesmaid dresses and I paid for the other half, and then my mum paid for the real touch flowers and centrepieces. And this wasn't even what I wanted anyone to do. My father in law is paying for bar TAB. So we saved but even still.

Genuine question- any tips for when you really want to get married, but there is no wiggle room at all after paying rent, bills and groceries (no coffees or luxuries to cut), and parents are unable to help?? I'm almost 60 and I came from old school customs and traditions. In my era, the bride's parents paid for most of the wedding. The bride's mother was the wedding planner. The groom's parents paid for the booze and the rehearsal dinner. The aunts always gave the bridal shower. There was never a need to discuss who paid for what; it was just so. Things are so different now.

P.S., I married in 1978. At the time my mother made me do something new and never done in my family -- register for my bridal shower gifts. My great-aunts thought I was so pretentious. I was a bit embarrassed, but look now -- registering is the norm today.

I think cause families are different. and things were a tad cheaper. My dads one of 15 and mom one of 7 IDK HOW that would work be too many chefs in the kitchen and we have Northerns and Southerns so it would be hard for everyone to do that. Too many different tastes. Plus i couldnt imagine my dad paying for 4 daughters weddings the mans heart would give out lol

What about tipping? I thought you needed to do 10% for tipping anyway? Are there certain vendors that you do NOT have to tip? The budgeting alone for this makes me not want to do this at all. There's SO much to calculate and it's hard to find it all within your budget unless you have enough to get a wedding planner. I do not. Ughhh the research.
