With my windows open (cause of fresh air), however, bc my piano is near my window I noticed a woman with her dog "casually stopping and checking the dogs collar" while I played I giorni. I was kinda proud that my playing was good enough to listen to.. Sadly.. I started to play another piece and made a mistake.. And the woman "casually stood up and went away".. I just wanted to hide..

I work for IT at my college and one time I was manually installing Sibelius on the computers in the music building and I could hear someone practicing piano in a nearby practice room. I had to wait around for a bunch of downloads so I played on a piano in the computer lab to pass the time. The practicing pianist started doing a call-and-response with me and it was fun; I'd never experienced that before. I wondered, is this what it's like to be a music major?

Please play the *Theremin* as a challenge: - No frets - Works on muscle memory - Can create vibrato - Sounds close to a violin
@VenerabIe
@VenerabIe 4 жыл бұрын
I am an aspiring classical thereminist. The instrument is capable of most things conventional string instruments are except a pluck, and it's monotonal. It's also significantly more difficult than a stringed instrument to play because the mechanics are so different and it's far more sensitive (tl;dr). Also sounds more operatic than a violin, for sure, plus a 5-7 octave range depending on the model. It's a beautiful instrument -- sensitive in a way I struggle to hear in strings, and expressive in a way I cannot describe. I'd rather they do a novice vs expert video (with Grégoire Blanc for example, the man is impossibly virtuosic) than just a meme review of it. The instrument deserves far more justice than that imo.

Lol yeah I'm trying to figure this one out too myself. I used to teach violin lessons when I was a teen to my friends and to lots of kids who would ask for lessons. I always taught for free and for fun... but I guess a lot of them felt bad and started donating money and gift cards every few weeks or so. I made some nice cash for food and other things I really needed during the week. Never advertised or anything... people would just came up to me and ask for lessons after I had performed at different places. And of course I don't like to turn that down! I love teaching!!! ^^
@Jimmyvida
@Jimmyvida 4 жыл бұрын
I think it is illegally if you are accepting money while teaching a private student (of yours) in a music school (that has its own teachers) xD I figured this out because I once felt awkward teaching piano to some friends at my music school and because of that I didn't accept their money xD
