I got a V8s about a week ago & took a couple days off from practicing due to a couple falls resulting in a bruised and twisted leg. Don't pass on protective gear! Not sure how bad my falls would have been without it lol. Very fun, however, and expect to work muscles you never thought you had 😆. And, get a cover to protect ur wheel from the inevitable scratches. I also added duct tape on exposed areas that helps.

The v5f was perfect for me, I got one at the end of December 2021, I can ride about 2 miles w/o break as a 53 year old lady, and put about 100 miles on the wheel since then, wear your safety gear always! Also get the free cover if you order from EUCO it will save some scratches at the beginning, and yes all the various videos especially wrong Way, monocat and even Jonathan walley Wheel Life ate all very helpful also the EUCO beginners video. Take your time and don't be discouraged if it takes more than a day to learn. It's well worth it!

1. Ride time, you need to ride as much as possible, this helps to build your muscles, 2. Get the largest pedals possible ideally that cover the full lenght of your feet, and adjust the angle of the pedals, NyloNove pedals are the best to my opinon because they are made from Polymid-6 because out of all its properties it is an insulator more so than metal pedals, cold feet lead to discomfort 3. Consider wearing minimal shoes with thin soles and no heel when riding, but also wearing these type of shoes full time, this will really build your foot muscles and begin to put your big toe into correct alignment (your big toe take a huge load when leaning forward or and moving). 4. wear toe socks this will allow your toes to move independantly. 5. foot care if you clean (lightly scrub feet and toes daily, pumice stone once a week) and moisturise your feet and inbetween your toes after showering every day this will increase you toe/feet flexiability, after a year of wearing barefoot shoes you will be able to ride for long periods and not once think of your feet or standing pain. 6. Work on ankle and calf flexiabillty this impacts leaning and breaking. The previous points my seem far fetched but I assure you if you are wearing conventional shoes you simply dont realise how under developed your feet and toe muscles are, also a shoe heel places you body out of alignment. Of course regardless of foot wear your muscles will develop, but barfoot shoes offers so many benefit if riding a Motor-Wheel.

Stretching your calves is helping your feet a lot more than moisturizing them. I had plantar fasciitis (basically a lot of inflammation in the foot from overuse) and calf stretching was the most important exercise to restore function and reduce foot pain

I find that carving helps with fatigue. Gets the blood flowing! Also, I tend to "tippy toe" and "heelstand" each foot up and down 15-20 times every few kilometers for the same reason. These techniques has made it possible for me to ride 50+ kilometers without a break.

Things I've learned to minimize pain: Higher tire pressure equals more pain in feet and knees Feet further forward lessen lower-body fatigue and foot pain drastically, but also make your wheel less stable and more likely to death wobble For slow accelerations, control the speed by leaning your shoulders, rather than your lower body. Wear shoes with less aggressive tread. The more flush the bottom, the easier on your feet. But you still want traction enough so you don't slip off your wheel. Keep your knees bent, especially when coming across bumps.

Great tips Adam! I expect someone else mentioned this somewhere below, but just in case...when my feet get tired or are sore on a long ride I find that riding for even just 15 seconds or so first on my toes and then just on my heel gives a nice stretch, alleviates pressure, and still gives some contact with the wheel while you are cruising. Do this one foot at a time so that you always have full control with at least one of your feet.

Looks like I use a working way to turn, but perhaps not the optimal way - in case of minor obstacles in my way, I turn with the inner leg in the turn, eg. 8:32. For continuous turning, like on a crossroad, i somehow use the outer leg, 8:45 style. Actually I'm not sure if the second give me more control or not, just realized the differences. Thank you!

@deadbluesky
@deadbluesky 2 жыл бұрын
I run my Gotway RS at 28psi, my Sherman and EX at 32psi and never got any rim damage and the tire use normally and not only in the center like if you put 40 to 45psi which is too high ruff on the knees and ankles also you got too much rebound and hard landing when you pass in pot hole or bad road !! With my old crash S18 i was riding at 25psi since the wheel was lighter. Here the comment i post ''you know the tire of a EUC come from a scooter, so riding at 40 to 45psi is too high for the weight 28 to 32psi is the best !! Do not follow the writing on the tire because this is not for EUC.'' Hope it help, but Adam is wrong about the tire pressure.

Would you recommend monowheels when making walk-around videos? Most KZfaq city walks have a slight up and down motion in their footage because some creators don't edit to stabilize (obvious too even when using gimbals/anti-shake cameras). The idea is using a monowheel like a dolly, but I guess they need the speed and will probably fail at normal pedestrian speeds. Thoughts?

My 16x is almost always on hard mode. I don't have to push so hard on the pedals. Off road hard mode is a.nessesity to.me

33 years old and 9 years of riding EUC-s. I went through all the settings, pedal modifications, controller modifications, tires, leg pain, knee pain... and so on. Best comfort tip experienced through the years: 1. Pedal angle tilted forwards 1 degree (This is the best tip of all. More comfort, and more control on the wheel) 2. Pedal stiffness 90-80% (Big difference in longer rides) 3. Lower tire pressure for grip, and more bump absorption (not to low to protect the rim...) And for additional protection i ride with sneakers that have metal caps.

Nice info :) but what do you mean with pedal stiffness?

One week into riding, lower legs and feet not used to it. Still very uncomfortable for my feet after 20 mins, almost cramping.

It's just cause your new, I had the same issues, just keep riding, the pain just takes longer and longer to come. 300-500mi and you'll notice it takes a while before it hurts, 1k+mi it'll take forever before any pain

Could you explain how grip tape can cause foot fatigue? I'm a bit confused about that point.
@flashyflash7152
@flashyflash7152 2 жыл бұрын
I would guess having your feet feeling locked in relaxes your foot muscles instead of actively trying to grip or put pressure on the pedals.

@@flashyflash7152 Hmm, I guess if we stand relaxed on the pedals already then we wouldn't get this fatigue.

I had to get rid of the stock grip tape pedals on my V11 immediately. I couldn't even practice one foot gliding as my foot would slide sideways off the pedal when I added knee/shin pressure to stabilize the wheel. I'm a big guy 6'2". 230# geared up. I thought I was just doing something wrong. It seemed the physics just wouldn't work for me. If I tried to lift a foot the lateral torque transfered to the other foot would just scrape it off the pedal sideways. Free mounting without anything around was very difficult, and wobbly. I bought a set of the spiked honeycomb pedals from inmotion and suddenly everything just worked. My foot stayed planted and I could feel and control the wheel. The second time I practiced free mounting I took off like normal, no issues, very little wobbling to gain control. The wheel didn't feel like it was wiggling out from under my foot anymore, and I was having to chase it down to control it. I've seen regular sized guys do just fine with grip tape. But it seems it just doesn't have enough grip to hold a 6'2" lever multiplied by 230# of lateral force. For some its an upgrade, but for me it was a necessity to ride the thing. I went from struggling to carefree cruising in a single afternoon.
