One caution about using hot water or near boiling water to clear a slow draining sink is that you will melt away the plumbers putty between your sink and drain basket. That will have you reseating the drain basket because it will soon begin to leak. I have not had problems with a silicone caulk sealed drain basket and hot water.

It’s kinda unavoidable. When you cook pasta or anything else that needs to be drained, you have to pour hot water down the sink pretty regularly. I suspect that’s why my left sink stays clear ( I always pour into that sink). I’ve never had a drain basket loosen. Maybe they’re installed with silicone. 🤷♀️ Thanks for the info!
