Күн бұрын

When he's cooking dinner at home, part of Rajiv's evening routine includes cleaning his kitchen sink once the dishes are done. Cleaning a sink is a good habit to develop; it helps to eliminate odors that develop from mold and bacteria that grow in damp conditions but it also is vital for sanitary food preparation.
This video is sponsored by Bar Keepers Friend, Rajiv's favorite product for cleaning his sink, stovetop, and even his cookware .

It may seem trivial to learn how to clean a sink, but I believe they should put your videos as a long term course in schools(as well as doing the taxes, saving money, investing,...). No one ever taught us to do laundry, wash dishes or everything else, etc. and we often learn them by trial and error and most of us do these chores in a wrong way our whole life.
@jgirldo2691

You have a good point. My mother had all girls and taught us everything she knew. Even our great grandmother and grandmother gave my sisters and I tips on cleaning, cooking and keeping a guest worthy house. My husband and I have one son and we taught him everything like making a bed, cooking, grocery shopping, and the importance of keeping his room and bathroom clutter free and neat. He learned how to do the laundry and even work in the yard and wash a car. On one occasion he went with some friends on vacation and at the end if the stay began cleaning up the rental home. His friends started calling him Martha Stewart after that and still use the moniker Martha now and again as a jibe. His girlfriend tells us that he's the best partner and shares all of the responsibilities of housekeeping, shopping and cooking with her. So at the least he has learned the importance of being a good partner. We also felt it was our responsibility to teach him fiscal responsibilities and brought him to the bank at a very early age to open his first savings/checking account. We taught him how to complete a deposit slip for his tooth fairy and birthday money. Then how to withdraw money and write a check to purchase something he wanted. We later taught him the pros and cons of debit cards. I have forwarded many of Rajiv's videos to our son to let him know how cool it is to be a successful, self-sufficient and creative guy. I hope Rajiv reach is far and wide and keeps expanding because what he is teaching, sharing and saying on his channel will make a difference in the lives of the younger generation. And...old girls like me just love everything about this dude!

I was taught housekeeping chores as a punishment and a degradating job, so I never really enjoyed them, and as a result I was either miserable in a dirty house, or miserable in a clean house due to feeling I had done something wrong. Content creators like Rajiv or Auri Katarina have rewired my brain into finding them joyful and peaceful, so now my house can be clean without me feeling miserable about it, and actually enjoy the process and the results. I'm glad I found them, because my life is a bit brighter.

And of course we love you, Rajiv! Bar keepers friend does come in a liquid version, ,too. My sink story is I was staying at a monastery in upstate NY one time and during our work meditation time I decided the kitchen sink needed cleaning. When I came down to breakfast the next morning, one of the nuns wrote on the white board "to the angel who cleaned the sink, deep gratitude!". It warmed my heart that someone would appreciate it so much. A podcaster named "the flylady" who is an organizer, had a segment years ago on cleaning your kitchen sink that I always remember. Thank you Rajiv!

Loved this video! I sometimes struggle with keeping a clean house as someone with depression, and it's so helpful to see ways to reframe household cleaning tasks as meditative, enjoyable self care. Seeing the way Rajiv cleans the sink and the pride and happiness that comes from having a sink ready to go for whatever the next day brings helps me to think about cleaning the sink at the end of the night as something more than an unpleasant chore to be avoided. You can coat the interior of the oven with the Bar Keeper's Friend paste (mix the powder with a bit of water and apply it to the metal with gloved hands) and then let it sit for as long as it'll stay wet. It'll help remove the crud, but you'll need to use major elbow grease.

A few years ago I purchased a Dupray Neat steam cleaner (Cost about $150). It's small and compact, but I've used it almost daily ever since. It is super powerful and cleans my oven incredibly well. It blasts off the grime. I don't allow the water to build up and mop it up immediately, but I've never used anything that's better. Then, if there are little pieces of crud, I'll use Barkeeper's Friend to get those off. I highly recommend a steam cleaner for those really tough jobs. (Oh and you can't believe how clean it gets windows...just don't use it in cold weather or it might break the glass.)

I think people don't know why it's so special. It's not the same thing as Ajax or Comet. It's not a bleach-based cleaner. It has oxalic acid in it. I use it to clean my enameled dutch oven when it gets stained. You can use it to clean your oven racks and even the inside of the oven door if you don't scrub too hard, just make a thinnish solution of it and spread it over the door and let the oxalic acid do its thing. Amazing stuff.
