+Emily Hesp steps to have brain freeze : 1. get something very very cold (food) - a very cold drink, slurpee, ice cream etc (it must be freezing cold tht you can't even hold them for long with your bare hand) 2. get it in your mouth in a large amount all at once and keep it there preferably nearer to your hard palate 3. enjoy your very first brain freeze (hope so)

to help relieve that panicky/anxious feeling in your chest, breathe slowly in through your nose feel it filling your lungs and diaphragm and breathe slowly out. I found this helped a lot for me to relieve the physical anxiety I feel in my chest sometimes

I always thought the bright light for a sneeze thing was more about looking up, as lights tend to be placed upwards. Also possibly because you're concentrating on a single point in such a fixed fashion. I don't know why, but I always figured that was the link.

The bright light one when sneezing actually works! It helps to squint and breathe a little air into your nostrils as you do this, too. I have no idea why, but I've done this forever and it usually gets the sneeze out :D

#8 is called photic light reflex and is caused because the nerves going from the retinas to the nose short circuit causing you to lose control of the sneeze reflex

"Look at a bright light to sneeze" - the optical muscle associated with the closing of a pupil apparently is in close proximity to the sneezing reflex, similarly saying "cucumber" may inhibit a sneeze.

I knew about the light forcing sneezing. I use that all the time when I feel a sneeze coming on. For some reason it makes the nose itch just right to sneeze.

If you need to keep from sneezing (like if you're quietly taking a test or during a wedding ceremony) look up and say a random word, I say cow because that's what i was told when i heard about this but you can say whatever you want, to yourself until the urge goes away which is like 3 or 4 seconds. It sounds crazy but it really works! i think it just makes your brain focus on something else but it really helps in certain situations.
