I don't agree with her Mother, I did a traditional wedding. It was his tradition and a way for his family to participate in the ceremony. In the USA, he wouldn't have his family to support the court wedding. It so much fun and rich with cultural significance. It would be a missed opportunity.

This is so correct, to frame it within the Western context of a sale instead of as a gift (as it really is) is so disrespectful. And when my husband and I looked at buying a house, we wanted to make sure to buy a home that could fit our kids and their future possible families because like it or not, most people our age can’t afford rent let alone buy a house. You can either call Emily and her husband bums not knowing what they might be doing to repay her parents (chores, groceries, cooking, paying some of the bills). Her parents are fantastic for helping taking care of her adult child and grandchildren. Even better for not throwing it in their faces every single chance they can get lol

Emily’s mom is completely in the right, it’s the principal of it. Much respect for her for standing her ground, it will eat at her if she proceeded becuase altho she’s not “selling her daughter” the tradition sure feels like it to her.

I commend Kobe for standing up for his culture & his family. Emily’s mother is ignorant and close minded. I’m also proud of Emily for letting her husband lead, while adding her two cents to defend her family front. Good job guys! 👍🏽
