On "My Car Story" we're at the Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis WI on 2-23-17 at the World of Wheels car show.
We're looking at a 1972 American Motors Corporation AMC Javelin SST (Super Sport Touring) in Tinting Base White Paint with a 900 HP engine.
The car's Owner is Mikey V. Mikey has this car since new. He shares his Father worked for American Motors and asked his Son Which car would he want car to drive, a Hornet or a Javelin? Mikey chose the Javelin and this became his car.
Mikey weather permitting drives this car as his daily driver!

I was a technicain at AMC when this car was new. I remember the first 401 Javelin 4 spd that came in to the dealership..it was black and fast..Thanks for sharing this fantastic Javelin..

i bought my son a 1971 amc javelin sst with the 401 engine in it.the car was a race car and i purchased it from the owner many years ago when he quit racing it. we are ready to start restoring it.

Mike , my Dad had a '71 Javelin SST white , red stripes,401 red leather interior . BUUUUUUUDDD!!! I wish I had hung onto it ! It was my 1st car. Given to me in '76.Floor it on a wet road at 55 mph it would break loose! Nada limited slip! Thank You!!!

My dad had a 72 Javelin SST. He eventually gave it to my sister and brother-in-law. They drove it into the ground and destroyed it. I wish I still had that car it's the lost love of my life.

@@loucostabile thanks Lou. I don't spend a lot of time dwelling on things like that but I have moments when I miss the Javelin and my old 55 Chevy that I had for almost 30 years. What I really miss is my Dad who passed 12 years ago yesterday. I saw Ford vs Ferrari yesterday and it stirred a lot of thoughts and emotions which lead me to your video. Good memories and thanks for sharing.

I am also the original owner of my 1972 Javelin AMX. Just wondering why this SST doesn't have the rally steering wheel it would have come with, and especially why no springs on the hood hinges? There appears to be space, but using a rod to hold the hood up, why?

Hi Henry Nevins, Not sure about the steering wheel, but know the hood is a custom fiberglass hood, so guessing created a hold up rod instead of the hood hinges. Sounds like you have a cool car too. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

No way does that make 900hp! maybe 650, but still a beautiful car. Not sure why blower guys tend to inflate their power numbers but to those of us that actually own one it's kind of embarrassing.

What a well built Javelin SST . Mine started out as a SST , it’s now a pro street AMX clone Chev powered. My first car when I was 15 back in 1978 .

Pro street treatment really looks great on this. It wouldn't be white if it were mine but otherwise i love it. I would only leave it white if it was going to be a strip only car because there would be a lot of lettering and decals. Sounds great.

Awesome...! What, if anything special did you do to the bottom end? I've kind of always heard anything above about 550HP is pushing the stock two bolt mains.

Mikey is dead right. You only live once and if you live right, once is enough. Those extended rear quarter panels are handy to sit on when filling the tank, which is probably quite often.

How do you keep the bottom end Block) alive?. I thought that even with a stud girdle, the limit was about 750 hp with the 401 ???
