How to fix erratic tach and speedometer that doesn’t work using a soldering iron. I show you what to resolder to fix the jumpy tach and the speedo that doesn’t work properly. Will only work for 96-97 R50 Nissan Pathfinders and Infiniti QX4s.

Thank you Jason, I did inspect , soldering appeared sound. However the micro switch appears to be faulty.

Your welcome. Even though the soldering looks good it could still have cracks in it within. Just thought I’d throw that out there.

It’s the points that need to be resoldered . Also the ground screw needs to be tight. Just watch the video and pay attention to the points I’m talking about. You’ll reheat those. Over time they develop cracks and loose connections.

Gonna try and this a shot. Both my tach and speedo are no longer moving for the most part. The rpm tach when I turn the qx4 on does move ever so slightly. Any tips or what do you think?

@@BigBlueTalk I’ve fixed two of these clusters using this method. You can try tightening the screws on the back of the tach and the speedo first to see if that helps. There are 4 screws each that hold in the tach and the speedo. Good luck!

@@Elcocko so I actually found 3 clusters in a salvage yard, supposedly all work and were pulled out of working vehicles. Is it as simple as removing my non working one and plugging in one of the new ones? Or do they need to be programmed?
