I would love to see some videos where you just take us quickly (maybe time lapse, or a few minutes per step) trough a whole car detail. No commentary, maybe just a note telling us what you do each step. You talk about how you enjoy this process of instant increase in beauty, turning something dirty into a pice of jewlery within a few hours, I would enjoy expieriencing your passion in its simplest base. Thank you for your work :)

Honestly Larry, you have the best car related videos on KZfaq. Behind the scenes shots like this are just as good as the post production ones for drive clean. Really nice to see inside these shops with tons of interesting cars sitting around, and totally awesome to learn something every vid. Was sitting here wondering if you could throw up your thoughts on foggy light restorations and if they are worth attempting or not? My GTI 337 edition is in need of some love

Larry, the splitters look great. You mentioned wanting to track the car. You may already be aware, the splitters (lips) reduce the amount of air going under the nose of the car, thereby reducing the air pressure under the nose. This reduces lift at the nose, improving front tire grip. However, since the low pressure area is ahead of the front wheels this can also reduce the amount of weight on the rear wheels, creating more tendency for oversteer at higher speeds. For comparison, notice on the 964 TurboS Porsche has matched those front lips with their most aggressive “tea tray” rear wing. The “tea tray” rear wing greatly reduces rear lift compared to the base 964 movable rear wing. I remember you had SpeedSport install heavier sway bars to tune out the inherent understeer in the 964 and bring the chassis balance close to neutral. When you start tracking the car, you may find it necessary to retune the sway bars. Or, the better choice would be to balance the front splitters with the matching “tea tray” rear wing. For some time I considered installing Cayman R front splitters on my Cayman S. Since I could not bring myself to drill holes in the rear hatch to install the larger, matching, Cayman R rear wing I finally gave up on the idea. The last thing I want to worry about is more tendency for oversteer at higher speeds. Thanks for all the detailing videos and have fun with your beautiful 964. Cheers!

Larry, that is Turbo S 3.6 "package car". Most were built with slantnoses but a small number were built with the conventional nose like the car in the video; hence the "package car" designation. This car is not to be confused with the 1993 Turbo S 3.3 Lightweight that was not available in the U.S. They are beautiful nonetheless.

You are most definitely right. Most people have not a clue how long it actually takes to detail a vehicle. Average daily driver I'll have 6 to 10 hours. Try to explain this to my customers and a reply with, well such and such at Joe Blow Jack Off detail service said he can do it in 2 hours for the same price. Dealing with customers is frustrating

Great video Larry whenever I do a correction I too keep arm speed quite slow and work in small one foot by one foot areas which in turn has made me put out some really good corrections. I do take a bit longer on correction than other detailers but feel that I can provide a better quality correction for a customer by slowing down and really focusing on a smaller section. Hey Larry - As a new hobbyist, I'm sticking with my DA. But as a pro, I would think you would rely more on a rotary to shorten your work time and increase your efficiency on a given project. What was your reasoning for sticking with the DA for a job that clearly needed a ton of work? Was it because the paint was 'soft' or you wanted to be extra careful due to the rarity of the car? Or do you typically use a DA for most of your jobs by default? Great videos... really appreciate all of the knowledge you are passing along. Todd

nice video. I just did a black a 86 Porsha 911 with very soft black paint using only a dewalt rotary . I used 1 2 3 and 7 inch pads . I used flex backing plates for the smaller pads and then 3 m perfect it double sided pads using 3 m perfect it compound swirl and ultra fine polish. came out flawless. its tough getting around all those curves and hard to reach areas with a 6 inch da.
