Drove up a man made rock wall (by accident..lol) a few months ago and tore up my oem steering components, just ordered all the parts. Thanks for the easy laid out explanation, looks easy enough!

if you go down this path, get the sleeves and tie rod ends from rock auto for half the money. same moog item. good job on the video!!

Beware your clearances. The drag link and tie rod are bent to fit a different vehicle, of course. You may feel the need to grind the supports holding your spring suspension onto the solid axle. Other than that, sick cheap upgrade. Did not realize how bad my steering stabilizer was. The amount of slop I had in my steering was disgusting. So much tighter and fun to drive.

Excellent video man!😊 Would you recommend getting an alignment after upgrading the steering? I have a 2005 Jeep.

Yes that's absolutely necessary when changing tie rods. However because it's a Jeep, there is no camber adjustment. Only caster and toe. This swap will not effect caster. Caster also will not wear tires. Diy Alignment is extremely easy on these. Just set your toe. Can't completely explain here. Google it. I used a long 2x4. I marked from the tire seam in the middle of the tread to the seam on the other tire middle of the tread. I did this both in front and back side of tire. Then i measured both. Use the tie rod sleeve passenger side to adjust so the fronts are pointed in towards each other exactly 1/8" over the rear. Then you can set the wheel straight with the sleeve near the steering box

this configuration fits a 2001 jeep Tj with rim size 15, and installs without any additional modifications. The necessary parts would be: 01 MOOG DS1312 Tie Rod End, 01 MOOG DS1430 Tie Rod End, 02 MOOG ES2079S Tie Rod End Adjusting Sleeve, 02 MOOG ES3096L Tie Rod End

Hi JThompson. Have a question. Why didn't you use Cherokee DS1238 or G.Cherokee DS1311 drag link? Asking because Mevotech makes them metal to metal bearing material VS all DS1430 for TJs metal to polymer bearing material, which is the weakest point.

Mine i used gloss rust oleum. Just use something anti rust

Man, absolutely not a single issue. I had just purchased this TJ when I did this. I’ve since driven it 7000 miles with no problems. Been Offroading a few times. Nothing super hard core, but this has been a good upgrade that I don’t have to worry about

Why the ZJ ds1312 tie rod bar and not the ds1326 adjustment sleeve? Is the 1312 just a beefier version from moog? Also amazon says it won't fit my 05 Rubicon TJ and the correct part# I got from moog was the ds1326 adjustment sleeve

I changed over to a complete zj steering, which is beefier, therefore i didn’t use any parts for steering from a wrangler. All from grand Cherokee

@@v8only I could do the same on a non(aftermarket)-lifted Rubicon TJ? I notice once the tie rod end is out on the ZJ you have to replace the whole bar

@@makofive.5660 if you look at the comparison pictures in the video of the tie rods next to each other, the zj stuff is a lot beefier. It’ll last longer and be stronger offroad. Absolutely i suggest a torque wrench
