D16Y7 (DX/LX) had the built in cat in the manifold. D16Y8 (EX with VTEC) had the slightly higher flowing 2 piece upper/lower manifold which then went into the cat separately, much like the aftermarket one you have does.

I've seen just about every Honda Civic exhaust manifold video and this is one of the most competent videos on KZfaq! very awesome. I didn't realize that there might actually be a better manifold for my Honda Civic. I have a 2001 Honda Civic and the manifold is cracked right where it always cracks on these Honda manifolds/catalytic converters. I already order a new manifold for $100 bucks but i figure it's just a matter of time before it cracks in the same spot again. This time I ordered some lava exhaust wrap so I could wrap the manifold but I have my doubts. What do you think about putting a good lava wrap around the manifold pipes? I was thinking of just wraping around the middle area where it always seems to crack instead of wrapping all the pipes.

This is an old video BUT for those barely tuning in for 96-2000 theres 3 different exhaust manifolds. The highest flowing one and most highly sought after is the 99-2000 EX. The 96-98 is a cast manifold going to a 2-1 downpipe. The 99-00 is a stainless steel tubular exhaust manifold NOT cast to a 2-1 downpipe. Then you have the base model cat/manifold like the video. For those that dont know. Cheers

whats the manifold stud size? a few snapped and i need to get others. the 40.5mm(which said it fit) didnt not fit and were to large.
