It is sufficient for the son of Adam to eat a few mouthfuls, to keep him going. If he must do that (fill his stomach), then let him fill one third with food, one third with drink and one third with air.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (2380); classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah (2265)

As a person whos been looking into fasting and diet for a long time, the problem is not animal products, its high carb insulinagenic diet with bad oils such as corn oil and vegetable oil. GOOD FATS FROM ANIMALS are important for mental health and you're cells.

Allah never gave us sugar is such a refined form. Sugar in nature always came attached to fiber which mitigates it's insulin effects and was never as sweet as they are today through genetic manipulation. Also, natural fruits contain nutrients to help metabolize the sugar. Carbs have been heavily refined and manipulated from what was once natural to what it is today in our food system, that is the issue. Many societies have thrived on carbs and were healthy, it's when modern industrialization came along that we really began manipulating food too much perhaps. The corn and vegetable oils which are often called the seed oils are unnatural as well as they require huge modern industrial plants to make. All the healthy fats are what Allah has naturally given to us such as ghee, butter, avocado oil, olive oil which prophet Mohammed peace be upon him praised and Allah swore by the olives in the Quran.

@Luca Saiyajin -If Animal fat was bad to you, why were the Children of Israel forbidden animal fat by Allah as a punishment? It's simple. Vitamin A (not plant precursor retinol) and Vitamin D are cholesterol-based animal hormones soluble in saturated animal fat (ie exclusive to animal foods). Allah would not encourage breastfeeding babies for 2 years (a mostly cholesterol based, saturated animal fat high beverage) if it was bad for you. -There is no such thing as "plant fat", plants have OILS, only animals have what can be defined as FAT at room temperature. -Hemp seeds are not an adequate source of Omega 3 nutrition on this point alone: the RATIO of Omega 6 to Omega 3 is 3:1 ! Meaning if you just eat hemp seeds, you will get the Omega 6 inflammatory effect. Besides you don't even get all the Omega 3 fatty acids, hemp seeds and plants in general only have ALA, while animal foods like fish also have EPA and DHA -> THESE ARE THE USABLE FORMS IN YOUR BODY. ALA is just a precursor, you will not get 100% absorption this way, it's better to eat DHA and EPA rich animal foods like fish. Hope this helps.

There are many topics which here in the West are closed for conversation or are assumed concluded for debate and I find that Firas not only addresses many of these beautifully but he relates his analysis to BOTH scientific findings and spirituality - which is why I find him so enlightening.

Some of the effects of sin, as described by Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him): 1 - Being deprived of knowledge for knowledge is light that Allaah causes to reach the heart, and sin extinguishes that light. When al-Shaafa’i sat before Maalik and read to him, he admired him because of the intelligence, alertness and understanding that he saw in him. He said, “I think that Allaah has caused light to enter your heart, so do not extinguish it with the darkness of sin.” 2 - Being deprived of provision. In Musnad Ahmad it is narrated that Thawbaan said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘A man is deprived of provision because of the sins that he commits.’” (Narrated by Ibn Maajah, 4022, classed as hasan/sound by al-Albaani in Saheeh Ibn Maajah). 3 - Sense of alienation that comes between a person and his Lord, and between him and other people. One of the salaf (righteous predecessors) said: “If I disobey Allaah, I see that in the attitude of my riding beast and my wife.” 4 - Things become difficult for him, so that he does not turn his attention towards any matter but he finds the way blocked or he finds it difficult. By the same token, for the one who fears Allaah, things are made easy for him. 5 - The sinner will find darkness in his heart, which he will feel just as he feels the darkness of night. So this darkness affects his heart as the physical darkness affects his vision. For obedience is light and disobedience is darkness. The stronger the darkness grows, the greater becomes his confusion, until he falls into innovation, misguidance and other things that lead to doom, without even realizing, like a blind man who goes out in the darkness of the night, walking alone This darkness grows stronger until it covers the eyes, then it grows stronger until it covers the face, which appears dark and is seen by everyone. ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Abbaas said: “Good deeds make the face light, give light to the heart, and bring about ample provision, physical strength and love in people’s hearts. Bad deeds make the face dark, give darkness to the heart, and bring about physical weakness, a lack of provision and hatred in people’s hearts.” 6 - Deprivation of worship and obedience. If sin brought no punishment other than that it prevents a person from doing an act of worship which is the opposite of sin, and cuts off access to other acts of worship, that would be bad enough. So the sin cuts off a third way and a fourth way and so on, and because of the sin he is cut off from many acts of worship, each of which would have been better for him than this world and everything in it. So he is like a man who eats food that is bound to cause a lengthy sickness, and thus he is deprived of many other foods that are better than that. And Allaah is the One Whose help we seek. 7 - Sin breeds sin until it dominates a person and he cannot escape from it. 8 - Sin weakens a person’s willpower. It gradually strengthens his will to commit sin and weakens his will to repent until there is no will in his heart to repent at all… so he seeks forgiveness and expresses repentance, but it is merely words on the lips, like the repentance of the liars, whose hearts are still determined to commit sin and persist in it. This is one of the most serious diseases that are most likely to lead to doom. 9 - He will become desensitized and will no longer find sin abhorrent, so it will become his habit, and he will not be bothered if people see him committing the sin or talk about him. For the leaders of immorality, this is the ultimate shamelessness in which they find great pleasure, such that they feel proud of their sin and will speak of it to people who do not know that they have done it, saying, “O so and so, I did such and such.” Such people cannot be helped and the path to repentance is blocked for them in most cases. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “All of my ummah (followers) will be fine except for those who commit sin openly, and that includes cases where Allaah conceals a person’s sin, but the following morning he exposes himself and says, ‘O So and so, I did such and such last night, so he shamelessly exposes himself when all night his Lord had concealed his sin.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5949; Muslim, 2744). 10 - When there are many sins they leave a mark on the heart of the person who commits them, so he becomes one of the negligent. As one of the salaf said, concerning the aayah (verse)- “Nay! But on their hearts is the Raan (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn” [al-Mutaffifeen 83:14 - interpretation of the meaning] - this means sin after sin. How this starts is that the heart gets stained by sin, and if the sin increases then the stain grows bigger until it becomes the raan (covering of sin and evil deeds), then it increases until it becomes a seal, and the heart becomes covered and sealed. If that happens after a person had been guided and had understood, then his heart is turned upside down, and at that point the Shaytaan gains control over him and directs him as he wants. Really enjoyed the podcast. One advice I would have given is if you really to increase fasting limits, you need to consume electrolyes. Many nutritionists have said that when you begin to feel hungry, if you drink a bit of salt water, you're hunger immediately gets curbed. I've done it myself and I've been able to push my fasting windows much more. Also, don't be afraid of salt guys lol, it's one of those things that's been wrongfully demonized. Our prophet Mohammed peace be upon him said salt is the master of your food. Not sure it's authenticity but many of our ancestors prized salt as well so when I came across it, I was intrigued and made sense according to research. I'm quite against the vegan diet, but again that's just my opinion. The Okinawans have access to very high quality food. That's the key I think. The quality of their food is nothing like the quality of food you and I can get from our grocery stores. Many vegans I've seen on youtube often times get very sick doing it for many years as well. The problem is that they don't have the nutrient content of the food like the Okinawans do and they often eat things that come out of plastic containers lol. One of the arguments of carnivore is that in order to do it properly, you have to eat grass-fed organic meats and ORGANS. If you're just eating grocery store muscles, you're doing it improperly. Again, the common theme seems to be that you have to eat all foods in the highest quality forms possible. One of the best books on this subject matter is a book called Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Dr. Weston Price. Many nutrionists I've followed all swear by this book and is often considered to be the like red pill of nutrition and it really a eye opening book. Recommended you guys to read as it shows a lot of the lies of our modern food system and shows who he discovered to be the healthiest human beings on Earth.

@- Indeed, salt has been wrongfully demonized. It plays a role in many aspects of our health. Many humans have gone to war for salt and animals intuitively migrate in directions where salt lies because it is a vital nutrient for all animals including humans. We've blamed salt for what sugar has done. Interesting thing about sugar is that Allah never gave us sugar is such a refined form. Sugar in nature always came attached to fiber which mitigates it's insulin effects and was never as sweet as they are today. Humans have manipulated foods way too much perhaps and should have stuck to what's naturally sweet. I do agree that a keto diet is preferable however I've moved away from it because I do enjoy carbs. I recommend you watch Dr. Chris knobbe's video about polyunsaturated fats. He was able to show that it doesn't matter if you eat low/high fat or low/high carb. As long as you can get these so called seed oils out of your diet, many societies were perfectly healthy eating what was available in nature no matter the macronutrients. Again, these seed oils are unnatural as well as they require huge modern industrial plants to make. All the healthy fats are what Allah has naturally given to us such as ghee, butter, avocado oil, olive oil which prophet Mohammed peace be upon him praised and Allah swore by in the Quran. @MissBey sister, you're fine now but give it more time and you'll start to see the effects of going vegan long term, if you really are doing strict veganism. Please for your health be a little more skeptical and look at people who have gone ex-vegan on youtube and see what they had to go through doing this diet long-term and how they felt. Often, they get very sick and the women especially start having major problems. Let me put it this way. In human history, there have been no cultures that have ever gone vegan. Period. Literally, modern humans are the only humans that have EVER tried this. So, it is a very experimental and novel diet that none our ancestors nor prophets have ever adopted. If it is so healthy, why did none of our ancestors try such a diet? What you find doing enough research, is that no humans could have survived without ever consuming some amount of meat, as there are certain nutrients that can only be obtained from meat. Also, I did watch the video and I actually agree with certain things the doctor says but I disagree his point and your point on saturated fats. According to the latest research on saturated fats are not as bad as we assumed they are. Please, with an open mind, check out these videos that debunks this notion: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z6l4esyayZyyaYU.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sOCbdNmnm7SXk4E.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h7qHg9F7nbqYmJ8.html If you want to know the real bad fat, check this video which is honestly one of the best nutrition videos I have ever watched in my life and shows you one of the the most unhealthy ingredient in our food system: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bdF3ocmJva-vioE.html Again, I ask that you listen with an open mind. This took me many years to learn through watching tons of videos and reading books as well as it is a little hobby of mine. If you're interested in the book that really changed my view on food, it is this: Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Dr. Weston Price. Literally, the most eye opening book on nutrition there is.

@@KhilafaNow Mash'allah 100% agree May Allah reward you for your efforts. The essence of Veganism is that animal foods are not healthy for you and/or that it is immoral to slaughter animals for food/provisions. This means veganism as a philosophy is in complete violation of the Qur'an (much like feminism's rejection of male leadership is as well) and Sunnah with the fact that Allah in His Mercy created halal livestock to sustain our bodies and our societies and it is indeed haram to prohibit what Allah made lawful. Furthermore to say that it is cruel to slaughter animals is indeed completely contradictory to the halal animal sacrifices that Allah mandated in the Qur'an and Sunnah for Hajj/'Umrah, 'Eid al-'Adha/Qurban, 'Aqeeqah, etc. If someone chooses to be vegan for subjective reasons and follows that lifestyle, they cannot impose it on the Ummah due to Qur'anic/Sunnah evidences, and they must discontinue it once their nutrient deficiencies become apparent because every self-harm in Islam is haraam. @@marcodipasquale. if you scroll a bit through the comments on this video I made a post saying Islam is not against personal choice to abstain from meat, but it is against saying its wrong to eat meat and animal foods because Allah clearly states certain animal foods as being halal for human consumption. Its easy to acuse someone of being a liar rather than actually challenging the points I made which the Qur'an affirms. I wouldn't force anyone to eat meat, but I find it silly to suggest that everyone should be vegan when Allah advises us to sacrifice cattle ethically, breastfeed our children, encourages hunting, drink milk from cattle, and eat honey from bees, not to mention seafood. Read the verses below and reflect. Allah knows best and to Him belongs the truth. The Table Spread - 5:4 They ask you what has been made lawful for them. Say, "[All] good things are lawful for you, and [also game caught by] what you have trained of hunting animals which you train as God has taught you. So eat of what they catch for you, and remember [or mention] the name of God over it, and fear God." Indeed, God is swift in account. The Bee - 16:5 And He has created the grazing livestock for you; there is warmth in them and [numerous] benefits, and you eat from them. The Bee- 16:8 And [He created] the horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride and [as] adornment. And He creates that which you do not know. The Bee - 16:10 It is He who sends down water from the heaven; there is drink from it and foliage in which you pasture [animals]. The Bee - 16:14 And it is He who subjected the sea for you to eat tender meat from it and to extract ornaments from it which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, and [He subjected it] so that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful. The Bee - 16:66 And indeed, there is a lesson for you in grazing livestock. We give you drink from what is in their bellies - pure milk between excretion and blood - palatable to drinkers. The Bee - 16:68 And your Lord inspired to the bee, "Take houses for yourself among the mountains, and among the trees and [in] that which they construct. The Bee - 16:69 Then eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord laid down [for you]." A drink emerges from their bellies, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed, there is a sign in that for a people who give thought.

Narrated in Sahih Muslim and Bukhari that Jabbir (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I went to 'Habs al-Khapt' [name of a place] and leader of our battalion was Abu Ubaidah bin al-Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him). We were very hungry and the river threw such a DEAD FISH [on shore] that like of which we had never seen. Its name is A'nber. We [almost 300] ate it for half a month. Abu Ubaidah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood one of its bones (and according to some narrations it was its rib). Its [the bone's] height was so much that one camel with its rider passed under it. When we came back, we told this to the Prophet of Allah (swallallaho alihi wassallam) and he said, eat! Allah has sent this sustenance [food] for you and if you have any feed us too. We sent some of it to the Prophet of Allah (swallallaho alihi wassallam) and he ate it.

@@fakharkhan5412 Vegan is for highly estrogenic (beta) males. Many of the vegan foods contain soy products which some studies suggest are highly estrogenic.

@Fakhar Khan @hanzo masha'allah to these brothers and to every Muslim that understands the agenda to reduce meat consumption with the excuse of fighting climate change, brought to you by the same clique that pushes feminism, lgbtq, and modernity. The Prophet ﷺ ate lamb, lizards, rabbits, camel, beef, goat, chickens, fish, milk, honey, etc all non-vegan foods. Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says in the Qur'an the MILK, HONEY, MEAT FROM GRAZING CATTLE, SEAFOOD, QUAILS, are all among His provisions for mankind, all of them happen to be non-vegan. Allah institued for us the Hajj and 'Umrah rituals in addition to 'Eid al-'Adha whereby we slaughter cattle such as sheep, goat, cow, or camel in the name of Allah and distribute these nutritious blesssings to the entire community. To say as shockingly as Firas is implying that we can safely go on a vegan diet (with the help of a doctor) as a Muslim is simply outrageous. The whole purpose of having Halal certification for foods of the Ummah assumes that we will be eating meat slaughtered as prescribed by our Creator. Our Deen, is not simply a creed, but a way of life to ensure the maximal benefit to the human race so that each member of mankind can fulfill their purpose in this life which is to worship Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. May Allah guide us all to the Truth. Ameen

@@solaqurana brother, your comment opened up my eyes. I've always been confused by this aspect of our religion. Apparently, people say that Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him ate a somewhat vegan diet. It didn't make sense with the research because organ meats are the most nutritious foods there is. No plant foods can come close to it's nutritional value, but yet I didn't know what to do with this knowledge. Many ancestral tribes as well prized meats as they intuitively knew its nourishment for humans. Many ancient tribes would have died had they adopted a vegan diet. How were they supposed to survive the cold winters without switching to a meat diet, made no sense to me.
