Man thank you i put a throttle body spacer on my jeep grand cherokee 2000 eith the 4.0 and it added slack this save me alot of stress and money i was already about to try transmission solenoid .

Update---My jeep would be sluggish between 10 mph and 45-mph, and would not shift into over drive, I tried doing what the video says and nothing, also my cruise control stopped working, after searching the internet for HRS I read it could be the throttle position sensor, I just replaced it for $47 and BINGO, My baby is running smooth, shifts into over drive and my cruise control works😉 HAPPY CAMPER HERE!!!

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Worked perfectly on my 4.0. I was continually having issues when breaking on an off ramp heading to work. WJ nearly died, shakes a lot (bad motor mounts, that's next) and would rarely idle at the right RPM while at stop lights. 15 minutes of driving, and it's working flawlessly. Thank you!

Hey guys. Just wanted to throw this out there. I just had a problem with my transmission and fixed it CHEAP!. I went for a test drive as I just changed the brakes in my 95 jeep Cherokee, and it was stuck in first gear!! Scared the sh...t out of me as I just bought it! Found some tips on a forum, that it might be the TPS, throttle position sensor. If that goes bad, the computer sends bad info to the transmission and the engine. I did remember that the RPM was high when I came back from the short ride, so it looked like this might be it. I bought a new TPS today at Advance Auto Parts, under $40. Jeep runs like new!!! Hope this can help someone out.

Hi there, my Jeep won't go into overdrive, before this started the Jeep would like be sluggish then shift into overdrive, I tried to adjust it but no luck, any tips?

My '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 shifted down from overdrive coming home last night and got worse, not shifting down into 1st gear. Then this morning I took it for a drive like I normally do starting out and it had very hard times shifting past 2nd gear but would. Then after a few more test drives it would not even shift into R, D, 2 or 1!!! The transmission just doesn't do anything besides park and Neutral. Any ideas? Thank you.

i have a 1999 jeep grand cherokee Gold limited 4.0 - 4 wheel drive. the motor ran good but the transmission seamed to be slipping a little so I replaced the transmission filter and after doing that the motor started running rough when it was in 3rd gear at a normal speed around 35 to 40 mph. if i kicked it in passing gear it seamed ok but when it shifted back into 3rd and drove normal it seems to buck if ya know what I mean. the engine light came on so i took off the battery cable to reset it. I went to get a new fuel filter thinking maybe it was about stopped up and on the way home the engine light came back on so i turned around and went back to autozone to put it on their diagnostic machine to see what that said was wrong with it. it showed 2 plugs not firering so i bought 6 new plugs and put them on and replaced the fuel filter also. NO LUCK...... still running rough. so I checked the coil pack and found 2 wirers not firering. ordered a new coil pack online, they sent me the wrong one so I have to send it back. went to Autozone and the one they sold me was the same as the one I had ordered. the plug on the one i ordered and the one at Autozone, the plug that the electrical connection hooks up to faces down and mine faces up. it wont work on a 1999 jeep. So I found one on Amazon that looks right so i ordered it. this all started just by replacing my transmission filter lol. WHY???????????? I would really like to know........... Any Idea? Tomorrow I;m gonna take the pan back off the transmission to see if I crimped a wire inside the transmission. Thats when every thing started messing up. The motor ran great before I replaced the new transmission filter. I;ll let ya know how it goes.

01 Grand Cherokee Laredo automatic, got it centered and put the clamp on and there's still a lot of "slop" left, like when your pulling and there's next to nothing on the wire, there's a bunch on mine, problem has been finding first gear, loud grinding noise while accelerating, but once it finds it, it drives great, also left turns and left turns only it revs super high then a jerk and it finds the gear

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee at 2004 and mine has a tendency if you're going slower when you start off at will jump on the first gear and if you're going between that 20 and 25 and you make the gear go up and then release your foot from the gas and it goes down it jumps going back down as well but if you go off at a faster speed it doesn't work as much and I don't have that problem through any of the other shifting you know as you go up in speed

98 cherakee sport. Can I run the tv cable a couple notches looser after adjusting it properly to make it shift sooner or couple notches tighter. I've been driving it with just 2 an 3 for a couple years u have two let up on gas 3ooo rpm to get 3 no over drive at all runs 3000 rpm at 70 mph

When I put my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 into overdrive while going down the road it just makes the motor hold back and the RPMs go up to about 3k and it won’t shift into any higher gear. Is that normal. For pulling I’ve been reading overdrive is supposed to be on when not pulling anything for better gas mileage. I’m confused.

did your jeep have like a delayed shift ? sometimes i have it in drive and when i let off the brake it laggs to get in gear but then bangs in to gear all the sudden really annoying? any idea what it might be.

Mine is shifting weird between 2nd and 3rd, it wont go into 3rd until it's at 3,500 rpm @ 48 mph..

I have a 98' as well. I did a trans swap and she's shifting at 3k from first and second. People keep telling me it's a torquey motor but I think this is my issue! Will update later today.

There is way too much garbage on a vehicle nowadays. Hard to figure out what is wrong? Why can't the manufacturer make it simple? We already paid thousands of dollars for this Jeep. It's supposed to be just transportation but it always breaks down?! Couldn't just make it electrical? What is the benefits of combustible engine when an electric motor would do as well? This is crazy! And the headlights insane!
