When welding a corner always weld out otherwise you get to much heat building up and the angle will bend in to much with the heat ,trust me iv been welding 35 years

I was thinking that at first too. As a new aluminum TIG welder I learned that the hard way trying to make a gate out of 45 degree cut 1 inch square tube. I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't lay flat! lol

I look at the end product .... Maybe the technique appears that of an ammature or beginner, but to me, there's nothing nicer than a nice weld flow pattern. When I was a boy, my dad bought a former WWII Army tank, and even as a littie boy was awed by the neatness of the welds .... And of course, nothing state of the art as it is now. It was all old school equipment, and the guy running the welds had to know his business .... esp with the long runs. I don't think I was ever able to tell where he started a new stick. Kudos on this technique, and the nice flow.

I was a tig welder for 44 years. When I retired, my boss said, "With your experience, you can get a job anywhere!" I said, "I'll never work ever again or pick up a torch ever again. Now comes "me" time!"

4 methods - still one same result. just look at the final pattern... why use something complicated then - if the last one is the easiest one and still leads to the same pattern?

It's backwards. An old schooler would set the current correctly and weld in one pass. 6013 will make a beautiful weld. But not that way.

Better control on thin material. Let's you run higher amperage, better arc characteristics, and narrower heat affected zone. But the critique about distortion was right.

You can't see the slight back and forth motion of the rod because of the Flash. Watch the rod closely.

I'd use a Tig welder, tack inside and out. Make sure you pump argon on the inside, low flow and let it purge first. Weld will look just as good on the inside as the outside. Chance of cracking are greatly reduced. Stress relieve with heat afterwards.
