That car looks like an absolute nightmare to self maintain.

In need of LOTS of TLC. Those boxer engines don't look easy to work on!

Paul Roberts Non turbo models from this vintage have lots of room and I think are actually pretty easy to work on. Most of the things you need to get to are either on top of engine or on the front. The intercooler and turbo hide a lot of stuff even without the additional shielding and pipework.

Heh, this was my second car ever (circa 2003). It was second hand and the previous owner had bashed it a bit (some people want to be race drivers). IMO, a great car, but a bit temperamental, but really, once you get it nice and proper it's a great car to own and drive. I will admit tho, it was a bitch to work on and i have plenty of knuckle scars to prove it, some people might hate that, i personally enjoyed my time with her.

These cars are easy to work on and theres heaps of spares over here in nz you can pick up a single turbo ej20 for $500-750 out of a write off due to so many of them being crashed.I recently picked up a 89rs legacy with blown engine for $1500 spent another $1000 on getting another ej20 put in and running and the car ran awesome .Cheap buy think I like the rs better than a wrx was more stable at high speed bigger car

Subaru dealerships more often than not request to pull the engine. pay $1000 to have your valves adjusted

s0nnyburnett They might turn up here in Canada within a few years, as used right hand drive models from Japan, once they are over 20 years old.
