As a bus driver in Dublin and surrounding areas, we are in the mirrors constantly, cyclists, pedestrians, scooters, motorcycle and vehicles, having to constantly watch out for their stupidity.... This in turn in most cases means we tend to see emergency services coming up before others, I do my best to clear a section, hold back, go out into the junction of safe to do so and I will always hit the hazards to show I've seen them ...

The one with the blue "C"? He passed many left-side junctions, bus stops, driveways, and at least one lay-by, but he will give way AFTER he has had his fun. He should have been fined, given points, and put on a driver retraining course.

I remember driving home from work one night and whilst in a line of traffic heard a siren and in my mirrors saw an ambulance behind me in the distance so moved to the left to give it more room to get through. At least two cars decided to overtake me and blocked the route of the ambulance at the traffic lights.

That is the problem with a system that trains drivers to pass a simple once-in-a-lifetime test, rather than teach them to drive.

I think personally the Emergency Services do a fantastic job especially driving at high speed to get to incidents deserve a good amount in their bank account

The amount of people commenting on the sound of the siren, They do realise sirens have directional sound? Usually forward facing, fitted outside the vehicle on the front bumper or roof of the of the vehicle. The sounds is not actually aimed at the camera and you are hearing it as you would hear a siren if it had just past you. Hence why the second an ems vehicle passes you it starts to go get quiet very fast... The camera mic also isn't of high quality, none directional, and more susceptible to picking up internal car sounds over external vehicle sounds, you can tell that from the humm of the road noise and the sound level of the indicators at around 1:33

Great POV, I agree the siren sounded muffled but might have been the mic!! I just wondered if you had ever experienced any issues with drivers panicking and cutting into the left lane in front of you as you undertake them, I prefer the outside lane to the inside as once you are boxed in by traffic you can only force your way out or wait for it to move. You always have room for manoeuvre of you have the middle of the road!!

I cannot understand WHY drivers drive across the front of a blue light flickering vehicle , as if to , make it wait . Un due care to me . They are with going to a critical or got a critical on board . So many drivers pull over so SLOW , when blues are behind - very frustrating to watch . Same goes for police blue lighting . The public need to be very much more aware of what is around them . Defensive driving .

Is it me or does the siren sound a little off? Like not loud enough or of the right frequency/tone? It also seems that way as over road users aren’t reacting until you’re immediately behind them.

We need the deafening German sirens on our roads these days. Have seen too many people failing to react to sirens in traffic until they're pretty much right on top of them. Why? Because they're glued to their phones.
@markwright3161
@markwright3161 3 жыл бұрын
@@Highlynonsensical There's also the fact that newer cars 'refinement' blocks out a huge amount of important audio for drivers. It cuts down on road noise but it also blocks sirens and the like. double glazing, etc isn't sound selective, and the tech is now built into cars, no need to look near their phone when it's all in the screen in/on the dash. Unfortunately these distracted drivers now include people just trying to turn a demister on or change the temperature because all that stuff is now through a dozen menus on the screen instead of through a button that can easily be reached without taking eyes off the road. And the phone distracted drivers can use their phone without being eligible for a fine or disqualification now. The latest car infotainment designers are just wonderful!

Curious of the route you took... Downshire Way->Bagshot Road->South Hill Road, Crowthorne Road, Nile Mile Ride... Why not Berkshire Way, Vigor Way, Peacock Lane, Old Wokingham Road. I can understand that the more direct route are B / C class roads, but would have less traffic...

@@bo55vxr This is going to turn into a subjective argument about routes! So why didn't they go down Mill lane instead? which IMHO would have been quicker than taking South Hill Road These are NOT criticisms just observations. I lived 20 years in Bracknell, and 20 odd years in Wokingham, so I know the roads pretty well and I am adding my own local knowledge to the routes chosen.

Why are cars still being equipped with sirens from like 2000s from like the bill? they're not effective at all as you can clearly tell... i had a similar response vehicle behind me with an awful lighting setup with a flashing blue LED in middle of window anyone can buy from ebay for like a tenner and sirens similar to these that you couldn't even hear, plus all you've got is a wail and yelp...no hate on the driver but man i'd be asking for a replacement vehicle as this one don't even seem safe.
@danielpixel3916
@danielpixel3916 3 жыл бұрын
@eejitseverywhere I have heard similar sirens from outside too, you can tell by drivers late responses and drivers pulling out that the sirens are useless and even under brdges you hear a faint echo, they can go cheap thats true but then you cant moan when drivers dont move when you have 2 flashing LEDs and a siren that sounds like its played from a iphone lmao, sirens are meant to be loud and catch drivers attention its why there is different sirens like wail and yelp the ones this driver has seem quiet and easily missed i mean on a latest video he's almost wiped out by a car because they failed to see the lights or hear the wail.

@eejitseverywhere Yeah, they've introduced them into UK as well there is videos of ambulances with rumbler sirens but super rare but eventually they'll probably make all cars have rumbler as these ones fire are getting and some ambulances are terrible.

Advanced driving is not all about speed. and the nature of the emergency can also dictate speed, for example if other units are already at the scene you still need to get there quickly but it is no longer as important so you can afford to take it a little more slowly. Also if it is an unmarked car the driver has to be doubly aware of other drivers not being able to see/hear the approach as they do not have such obvious emergency equipment, for obvious reasons. There is no point in having a collision while enroute to another.
