Norwegian fire brigade responding on a call about a car accident in a tunnel during rush hour traffic in Oslo. Those who called in described it as a serious accident, but when the fire brigade and police arrive on scene they only find a car who has crashed in to the wall and can drive out without any help.

@@belaschaub5361 I think the reason the bus is there is to block all the cars ignoring the red cross. By blocking them and then move as the fire truck arrived the closed lane stayed clear. It is a big problem in both Oslo and Stockholm that people use the closed lane as their personal lane and then end up blocking emergency vehicles.

Jonas Bobjörk maybe you are right, but I don’t think the move played out to well. He still blocked the firetruck. Also all the cars in front of the bus could change lanes at anytime. So im still guessing that the bus driver just didn’t want to wait in line

As a German, this honestly makes me mad. Everyone is praising how well everyone is yielding, when what they do is absolute chaos and the fire fighters have to drive in a zigzag around cars all the time and constantly have to switch lanes because the emergency lane formed is not always in the same place. There's a simple rule to mitigate this: If you're in the leftmost lane, move to the left, in all other lanes, move to the right. That way an emergency lane forms in the same place everywhere, and it's much easier to drive through. All countries in the world, adopt the Rettungsgasse!

Try Japanese sirens. I saw an ambulance when visiting Japan. It had 3 different sirens and used all of them simultaneously at times. But it was obvious that the medics could control how many sirens they want to activate. Who knows, maybe I haven't even heard them all...? They also used a loudspeaker with recordings. @@zaximotheoutlaw9840 According to ssb.no it was 48.750 NOK per month in 2020. That is actually lower than I thougt. In Germany, it was 3.427 euros [Bundesagentur für Arbeit]. That would put Norways salary 36% higher. I am not sure if both calculations are exactly comparable because of part time jobs, bonus payments etc. But I think e.g. your restaurants and hair saloons are much more expensive than here in Germany. A hair cut here is like 15 euros, in Norway more like 400 NOK I think 🤔

I've a lot of respect for firefighters. And to the intelligent drivers, it's common in Poland (and I'm sure it's common in Europe in general) to make a corridor for the ambulance, firefighters and police when there's a heavy traffic caused by a car crash on a highway. It's enough if a single concious driver initialize it and the hundreds of other drivers follow.
@Ganiscol
@Ganiscol 3 жыл бұрын
It is, but in recent years I've seen more and more reports of reckless drivers using these corridors to keep moving in front or behind emergency services - how dumb is that when there is likely to be a complete standstill ahead due to an accident? And if enough do it and clog the corridor, emergency services cant get to the accident and will actually have to get there on foot! Luckily, the police is cracking down hard on these turds - they cant get away from there at that point... I believe losing the drivers license on the spot for a year or so would be appropriate.

Last time I drove on there, I was extremely surprised when I found heavy traffic, because people automatically push themselves to the edges of the road, so right cars drive with a wheel over the right line, left cars over the left line, so that a third way opens in the middle, IN CASE some emergency vehicle comes. It blew my mind.

I'm genuinely surprised by the comments that this isn't normal in countries like the United States; where I live it's the law to do whatever you can to safely make way for emergency vehicles with their sirens on, not just some optional task. The driving-training is probably close to the same as in The Netherlands, and it's very thorough with regular re-training. And it's also about experience. I had my certificate for driving a forklift earlier than my regular license. At some point you know exactly how wide the forklift is and you don't hesitate anymore when you just have 5 centimeter (that's about 2 inch) to spare on both sides of the vehicle. This driver just knows the size of his vehicle very well. And if you looked carefully, you can clearly see he IS checking his mirrors.

When I was there, in 1981, the most common American vehicle I saw was a Chevy K5 Blazer. I’d see a few different ones every day in Oslo.

Man. Every so often you hear those sirens, move out of the way, and move on with your day. While those people are on their way to save lives. It's harsh out there man. It really is.

It's cool how courteous everyone was, but jeez, having that many contiguous stretches of high-traffic roads that are that narrow? I guess I'm lucky to live in an area where even if every lane is filled with traffic there's still a place for emergency vehicles to get through.

Probably because it's surrounded by mountains and that's the widest they can make the road.

Norway is full of hills and mountains, and the big cities are also surrounded by them. It is not easy to build large, wide roads everywhere. There is also a political reluctance to make it easy to drive in order to push people onto buses and trains, which creates situations like this. Norwegian emergency crews are certainly used to handling situations like this.

Two things surprised me: 1. how considerate Norwegian drivers are. 2. there are sunny days in Norway.

@@Dennis-zk4wv Depends on where you live. In Lofoten we have generally mild summers and mild winters. The sea normalizes our temperatures.

Driving education is pretty strict here, you need to go through a lot of mandatory driving lessons and pass different tests.

Another thing surprised me, the beautiful car in the centre lane at 1:35. It looks like a late '70's Cadillac Eldorado. Not many cars like that in that part of the world I reckon.

In Oulu Finland the Fire Station is next to local Icehall. Once they had a rehease just when the game ended and roads were full of cars. Something similar to this video happend.

This is absolute chaos and a waste of valuable time for the fire fighters. Look at a video of German "Rettungsgasse", that's what all of the world should be doing. Every driver knows exactly what to do in an emergency - all lanes move to the right, except for the left most one. Thats done in no time at all, and a beautiful, consistent emergency lane is formed. I really don't know why not more countries are using this principle. In Germany, most of the radio stations (to which one mostly listens in the car) have a short mention of the Rettungsgasse rules in their regular programme after every block of traffic information, so everyone is aware of them at any time. Also, there sometimes are posters reminding you of the rules hung on bridges, but that's mostly a thing in Austria, I believe.

@@InterFelix Oh calm down ffs. You are commenting over and over again here how incredibly bad this was, "absolute chaos", do you have any idea how stupid that sounds? :) Yes, they could have done better, but if this is "absolute chaos" to you, you simply don't know how it is in most nations. We learn the same thing in Norway when we're taking the driving license, but we don't put as much effort into reminding about it. What you are doing is the equivalent of me saying that Germans are absolute SHIT at winter sports, because Norway is better. Would that be fair? :)
