Жыл бұрынWho remembers when you could go to an ice cream van on a British summer's day afternoon and buy a mr whippy cone for 99P?
Well we can remember these days, but they seem to be a distant memory.
we often find that in london or manchester city centres ice cream vans can be charging as much as £4 for a humble mr whippy ice cream.
ice creams should still be 99p in our opinion, so we are taking on the challenge of searching the whole of the UK for a mr whippy ice cream that is sold for 99p.
do you think we will be able to find one?
this is the fourth installment of this fun youtube series.
we travel to southport in the north west of england to see if we can find some 99p 99 mr whippy walls ice cream along their coast line promenade .
This was the week before the 2023 eurovision competition and was alot of fun to film along the prom!
we also find some strawberry sauce too.

When I was a kid, the ice cream van man on our road used to do 99s for 60p and doubles for £1. Those were the days Edit: I ain't a boomer. Born in '95 so this wasn't _that_ long ago

I think i did see one 99p because me and my Nan go to Portsmouth every year near summer time and we would normally hang out near south sea because we live in Gosport which is right beside Portsmouth and it really cheap and fast if you take the Gosport ferry

The name was never about the price From the Cadbury website: An Ice Cream served in a cone with a Flake 99 is the UK's favourite ice cream. In the days of the monarchy in Italy the King had an elite guard consisting of 99 soldiers. Subsequently anything really special or first class was known as "99". When Cadbury launched its small Flake for ice creams in 1930, the UK ice cream industry was dominated by ex-pat Italians. So, to appeal to Italians we called our superb Flake a "99".
