Decided to convert the small Enco lathe over to CNC with a masso controller and clearpath servos. Ball screws and some square linear rails was a must for this build.

Dang your really cooking that shell mill. Flycutters are great on lower HP machines that can't handle the torque. I agree that a shell mill is much better for your application. What are you using for CAM?

@@mowbetter2010 thanks for the reply! Did you use a kit or did you use off the shelf parts and fabricated it to work? I'm thinking of doing the same on my knee mill.

Kris Sondors i found a set of used ones with the yoke but after i got them found them to be 48” not 42 so extended the table to match. Wasn’t hard just took time and some square tubing

John, thanks for sharing, face mill is light years ahead of a fly cutter. Have no idea why guys still use a fly cutter(except for large continuous cuts) ancient tool that needs to be put in the backup part of a tool box. That is not an R8 spindle ? What is that BT30 ?

automan1223 ya its a r8 spindle running the tormach tooling in it with there ring that goes against the spindle nose.
