STORY
-----------
The house on the corner of the street, once the home of American war veteran Mr. Fred, holds a tale waiting to be told. Mr. Fred served in the Vietnam War and spent countless memories in this very house, living there for decades. Despite his son leaving to start a family, Mr. Fred couldn't bear to leave the memories of his wife and family behind.
However, as time passed, the house fell into disrepair, its once beautiful exterior now worn and forgotten. But we won't let Mr. Fred's story be forgotten. Join us as we uncover the heart of the past, explore the memories that still linger within the walls of this historic home, and pay homage to a war veteran and the sacrifices he made for his country. Don't miss out on this journey through time and history.

I am a retired Navy Veteran, and I watch your videos quite often. I felt compelled to thank you for your respect, and kindness, for a person's property, veteran or not. The Vietnam Vet in this video was with you every step that you had taken in his home. The concern you had for his life well lived, and honor you displayed toward his life and service, are commendable. You were raised right, Leslie, and the work you do means that memories will never be erased..even when the material things are gone. It is a nice, and beautiful thing you do, and I thank you.

As an American, I want to thank you for honoring the military veteran, Fred, in this video. It’s perplexing as to why the family members just abandoned this home and all the wonderful memories and belongings inside. I believe from the Father’s Day card is an indication that he was loved. I wish this lovely home could be restored. He was a very neat man. He kept his home clean and his clothes were folded perfectly. This is a wonderful video. Thank you and Lesley and Danny for sharing it with us.

@@kathymatson5819 Because it’s sentimental to them? Who’s paying the electric bill? Its a different world. What if their job is 2 hours away and they don’t want to rent it out? People don’t abandon cabins in the woods. They only come and stay for portions of the year. Any place with electricity is being cared for by someone. Notice you won’t find this comment in the 500 left. Only 499 of people saying they don’t care and if they did they would sell everything and get rid of it?! Who does that to their loved ones? One’s who don’t care and only about money..

I'm also a veteran and I can't thank you enough for taking the time, capacity and care in honoring fellow veterans like you did for Fred (and others you've documented in the past). It means the world to me to see this. The Father's Day card nearly obliterated me with its message as well as your thoughtfulness when displaying and viewing his military memorabilia. He was obviously a dedicated father who also kept up with his technology far better than most senior citizens do these days! THANK YOU for being conscientious and thoughtful in these explorations. Again, it means the world to me to see the respect and care you perform in these. Herer's to many more explorations and discoveries!

It seems weird this house wasn’t put into a trust or life estate or something to that effect? Otherwise, how is it that you’re able to just go and barge into it without permission? Why no writ of replevin from the state, for its yearly taxes due for example? Even if there were no liens left behind such as if this house had no mortgage payments owed on it, still someone has to eventually claim it. In a situation like this with no children taking on the role as trustee wouldn’t the state just take it? That’s usually what they do in most places in the United States. Either way even if he had no bills left behind which was impeccably wonderful. The government needs to be notified so that they or someone from there can get the ball rolling, start cleaning it out, putting the mementos in a storage facility, and then getting it remodeled, and auctioned off or something via a judicial sale where a real estate company can buy it and sell it. I’m confused about this kind of thing.

What a beautiful home Fred made for his family, a victorian farmhouse type, what a sweet life they must have shared. Old Americana style. Back during that era , boys could join the service while still in high school with their parents permission. What a beautiful letter in the Father's Day card. The upstairs wood walls had a log cabin feel about it. I think Mr. Fred kept a nice home. Thank you Leslie and Danny for sharing with us once again.

It's funny how some families are. I would give ANYTHING to be able to go back and visit my childhood home. If the choice had been mine, my Mom and I would have stayed there, but circumstances beyond my control caused her decision to move in with my sister and her wicked husband and so I had to move too. This video was done so very special and with great respect. My husband was in the Navy during the Viet Nam War He was in the US Navy Stationed in the Tidewater area of Norfolk Virginia. he was on a Destroyer Ship. We were married during these times in the 60's early 70's. . He did travel many places in the Mediterranean area. Mr. Fred looks like he was such a very nice young man during that time and am sure during his last years. He did evidently have Asthma or COPD, and this is typical home of that era. It looks like they kept it all the same mostly. The basement is very typical too of this colder area. The Northern aria of the U.S. His son loved his dad so much and showed such respect. It looks like his dad left everything just as it was when he needed to leave quickly or was found? his son evidently never came back for his dads 'Dog tags' or anything else and did not realize a few of the items may one day be beneficial to hold on to? Sounds like they had a nice life together, and it is sad the wife passed away so young. She must have loved nature and flowers. You did such a good job showing all of the ways the videos etc work and the technology. Can truly see how you both did truly enjoy seeing this home. Cannot believe how his Buick good sit outside and the neighbors are respecting it to leave it alone like they have. They were a richer car in the day and a heavy built one that would hold up to high winds etc. Very well made. Thank you so much Lesley and Danny for showing respect not only to their home and all they had during their years there but also his life. He was not too old when he died. I do not feel as it looks like he would have maybe been in early or mid 70's when he passed.

@Not here I don't believe he intends to disrespect his father. His son may be so hurt from his passing that it hurts to relive the memories when he is at the house. When my mother passed away it was really hard on me. So hard that after the funeral it was really hard to go back into her house and take that final look of her home. I could picture her still cooking, watching TV, sleeping in her bed, sitting in her favorite chair. Everywhere I looked I could see and FEEL my mother. I could see her walking in the yard and greeting me with a hug and kiss on my cheek. I knew that was the last time I could visit her home because my heart hurts so bad. Going to a gravesite is completely different. There are no childhood memories at a gravesite. Not like at home. I said my final goodbye to her home because I was happy where I lived and had no intentions of moving to her house. My sister took full control of the house and is now in the process of selling it for the money for herself.

What a touching episode. It is obvious Fred and his family took pride in their house by the way they took care of it. The little space on the wall of the second sitting room is for a telephone. Houses and apartments built during a certain era have them...even here in Canada. As for basements, you are correct. Basements are possible in cold climates because the ground is more stable, therefore less chance of shifting. Your empathy towards the people of the homes is always so touching.

Thank you Lesley and Danny. I've mentioned this before but I SO enjoy the way you guys work together. You make such an enjoyable team. This is a cozy little house that I have to believe is visited on occasion by the family, maybe the son. He obviously loved his Dad and maybe it's just too painful for him to clear the place out. Thanks for showing it to us. I can't wait till the net adventure.

It really wouldn't take much to salvage that home. The family needs to get over there, and recover his personal items, and get that place into condition for another deserving family. It really is sad to see family related neglect when "loved" ones pass away. Thanks for sharing this.

Love your videos, still you bring me back in time. What a beautiful and lovely home, love the natural wood cuz it's very homey atmosphere. What you got me is the letter from his son , so very touchy. Very obvious that they are so loving family it reminisce what a loving father he is. The house it's worth to keep with full of memories of a great person and a loving family. Thank you Lesley and Dani for another great video. From the Philippines. God bless ♥️🙏👍

Guys thank you for sharing these sad stories with us. I find it heart breaking that his son and grand children did not care for his belongings. Could you please in the future pick up items from the floor and at least put them on a table if the house is not messy but just a bit ransacked. I wish I could come with you guys. I would be cleaning up places worth saving.
