Around 10 miles of walking from the North East Hertfordshire village of Barley.
Setting out from the church, it's on via field edges and quiet lanes to Nuthampstead, where the remnants of a former wartime airfield can be clearly seen.
Continuing along the Hertfordshire Way, the walker soon arrives in the village of Anstey for lunch at the small chapel there. Time constraints prevented a visit of the lovely village centre though.
The route then continues on via Barkway Park golf course and a busier road into Barkway village, where an Eighteenth Century Trinity Milestone is passed.
The walker then leaves the roads, passes the horse stud at Newsells Park prior to a final ascent into Barley.
A very decent walk, on a lovely autumn day, with some elevated vistas as well.
