I would like to say that the composer of this beautiful carol is my grandfather and I am so proud. He was a gifted man who not only composed music but wrote stories and poems.. I will contact the museum after Christmas

This should have been this Christmas Number 1 , the story of its discovery, the pure clarity of the unfettered vocals , and the fact that Bethlehem celebrations are cancelled, we all need a reminder we can still enjoy a moment of simplicity from the distant past during present trouble times .❤

Also just heard this on BBC radio 4 and loved it. A beautiful tune that is easy to remember and colours the happy joy of Christmas. I'm a professional musician and find I'm humming it around the house.

This is great. We have WhatsApped all the family a link, so we will sing this when we convene in Barnsley on Boxing Day! Tricky but will be fun to sing with everyone. In memory of Father in Law who worked at Redfearns Glassworks and my dad who really could sing.

We did have a lovely day. It was a hilarious rendition but definitely a ding dong merrily! I had to conduct them with a ruler, that’s how good it was. Also, I was on Radio 4 Broadcasting House reading out my email on Boxing Day, when they featured the Barnsley Carol. (P.S, We all think Tegwyn will get head-hunted.)
