@@FelipeGonzalez-le5jv I'm getting a bit redundant, I admit. I checked one of my comments and was shocked to see an absurd number of comments, including hateful arguments. Weird, but also weirdly normal in the Internet age. This kid Alex is special, and it's impossible to overstate his accomplishments.

I’m a follower of Jesus and after watching this, all I can say is.... I freakin admire and respect Alex Honnold. I respect anyone who has good reasons for believing what they believe about the fabric of the universe. I would love to be friends with that guy. I sincerely hope that one day both Christians and atheists can unclench their fists on what they consider to be “true” and learn to respect each other and enjoy the beautiful things in life despite diametrically opposed world views. One can only hope.

Believing things without evidence is not worthy of respect. I don't want to hurt you, yell at you, or even dislike you. However, many atheists do not and SHOULD NOT respect any religion. Anything "good" that can be found in religion can be put to use without the need for a belief in the supernatural. It's time to grow up. Drop religion. It's unnecessary and untrue.
@alekrunko

I honestly don’t know if you really mean that. I imagine you probably don’t hang out much with theists that have well-thought out views. There are good reasons to believe either way. Historical, epistemological, ontological, cosmological lines of reasoning. When you lose the ability to respect those with different philosophical views, you are stepping away from a better, more compassionate world.

I agree with @marcusdolby1 , I am a Christian, but when I meet people and get to know them, it is usually a really long time before I even think about asking about their spiritual life. Having a personal relationship with God and talking with him is a thing not many people (sometimes even Christians!) can wrap their heads around! Meet people where they are at, love them for who they are, love them like Jesus would. It's that simple. (P.s. to Alex Honnold- the whole church service thing is a bit overrated, it's ok not to understand old people who eat stale wafers, much less the bible.)

If you really love someone, you would love the way he embraces Life, including how he manages his beliefs. One good example is Alex Honnold's mother herself, who certainly supports her son and she's so right. If you believe in God, then let God rule his life, I bet God knows better than you what is good or not good for Alex. At least me, I do thank God indeed very much for giving us an Alex Honnold from time to time to inspire us from.

y'all gotta chill man! everyone has their right to believe what they want. I personally know that God is real and is waiting on me to join him in Heaven when i die, but just because someone else doesn't believe the same, doesn't make them any less of a person. The bible says to love everyone no matter what they believe. It is a lot like the whole Phil Robertson thing on Homosexuality and he said it perfectly. Christians are called to love no matter what someone else's choices or believes are.

We're all going to die and these religious people are scared of that fact, and therefore they need something going on after death. Some kind of afterlife, right? So how do you believe that all of this got here? Can your mind wrap around what's going on? This universe is amazing. A huge cosmic play. This all can't be an accident. I'm not scared of death, i'm awestruck with wonder.

Where I do disagree with Alex Honnold is with the so called sport of free soloing. One should never, EVER, climb without a rope and safety gear. Not ever. Meshwork123 This ending that you describe, is part of existence, it is part of life. Life is naturally built/designed that way. For some unfortunate, it can even be days, weeks, months, years of what you call "regret". And for some who don't live their life for itself but live it for a supposed afterworld, it can even be an entire life of that "regret".

When the null hypothesis throughout all of humanity is that there is a higher power, why does the burden of proof all of a sudden shift? Evolution and the big bang theory were not strong enough to shift the burden. Millions of people (and counting) have not been convinced away from the null. The default option is still the null hypothesis.

There is a lot of God hating going on below. If someone doesn't believe in God, then they most likely rely on science, which I believe to be the "explanation of what God has created". But science relies on evidence. So if those who do not believe in God, want to say He doesn't exist then they should be able to objectively prove that with evidence. If you cannot then the possibility then remains certain. And we are not Gods. Does any one of us have the power to create? We are created and will always remain that way. The Bible holds water, if you can read the whole Bible and show me many multiple discrediting verses I would like to see that.The Bible-- Written over a period of 1500 years, 66 books, by over 40 authors in different parts of the world, different time periods, (apparently no collusion), and it lines up. How? Check it out, God bless peeps.

I agree with you stating that science relies on evidence. And thank you for not needing to bash other people with your own beliefs, but my answer is more like a question to your question. I could also ask, what objective proof is there that god exists?
@scatman8403
@scatman8403 10 жыл бұрын
Your answer to my question with a question isn't really an answer, is it? The most objective proof that God exists is that 70-95% of people on the planet believe in a God. The reason I put that range in there is because the numbers vary from source to source, but even at the low end we see that the majority believes that some form of higher power exists and as of 2010 33% were Christian which is the majority of that breakdown. Why do they believe? Most likely they have stepped out in faith and have experienced something. Logically if they had not experienced something then most people would not keep believing. The bible says it is impossible to please God without faith. Faith is the evidence of the unseen. I believe and so do many others. There is not a single Christian in the world who did not have to take a step, jump, or leap of faith at some point. Do you remember Indiana Jones in the Raiders of the Lost Ark when he steps out on the invisible bridge. It takes that. God will show Himself then. Its not easy, if it was then everyone would believe in Jesus Christ.

One cannot prove a negative claim. For example, I do NOT believe that a herd rainbow colored flying mini-unicorn lives in my closet but at the same time I cannot Prove to you that it does NOT.
@scatman8403
@scatman8403 10 жыл бұрын
So you are saying that it is possible that a herd of rainbow colored flying mini unicorns are in your closet. You cannot disprove that? On the other end of the faith side, which evidence shows by the numbers that for more people believe in a higher power that is unseen, we can see that their is evidence through their positive claims. The reason I am saying this is because I am assuming that you were saying I was making a false claim but I never said, "I do not" or anything like that. I said, " I 'do' believe". I would think that a reasonable person would ask why do you believe and then perhaps listen to the answer and consider it. Especially when so many people "do believe" and in something that does seem farfetched from an outside perspective. What are the possible explanations? Well, the majority of the world is either crazy or they have good reason to believe in God. And if the majority of the world does believe in God then perhaps a step of faith is necessary to see that. Jesus said, "seek and you shall find". If you do not seek him out then you will never find Him. Matthew 7:7 I hope you can do that. Jesus is so good. He loves you so much.
@maddoxbromley6426
@maddoxbromley6426 10 жыл бұрын
But it is a false assumption by you to think that the "majority" believe in "God / Jesus" in the Christian sense that you put forth. This is simply not the case.

It's just semantics really, Justin. Atheism is another belief system, and I guess I look at all religions from that wide angle. So, if Religion should be left out of sport, then Atheism should be as well. Believing something, or believing in not believing are one's own personal affairs. Best to leave it that way. Regards.

Hey Alex, I love watching you climb. It is sad that the church you were in drove you away from God in a sense. God is so very real and Jesus is His son. A church that is not displaying anything that is of Christian character is not doing its job. The church is called to change lives by loving radically. People who don't believe need proof. A third of the world is Christian, so ask them what God has done in their life. If that's not enough, then ask God himself by praying. God will answer if you really want to know Him. He love us. He sent His son to die for us. The truth is that I don't have enough faith to be an atheist. Christianity has more proof, once faith is established.
@elmoblatch9787

Zero evidence? Christians believe that Jesus lived, died, and rose. There is strong written historical evidence backing up each one of those 3 claims. Dispute the evidence instead of blindly regurgitating what you've been told (and wanted to hear) for most of your life. If you're claiming that the existence of God has "zero" evidence, have fun with that one. There's zero evidence disproving God also. So what's your point? Dispute the Son of God who actually lived on earth. And have fun finding out that you actually believe at the end of the journey.
@CodGeronimo

@@dbikeryamaha125 You are a true master of fallacies. It's so incomprehensible for you to be humble about having faith, which is believing something without evidence, but you ALSO claim that there's "strong historical evidence" that apparently Jesus lived, died and rose. You literally want your cake and eat it too. If you consider a hundred-time re-written book that's two millennia old as "strong historical evidence" i have a bridge to sell you.

Atheism is just another Religion. Alex is not an atheist, and He doesn't even know it. When one has His quality and intensity of Love and such an honest way of being yourself, then you're closer to the Infinite and Divine Consciousness, then all the people in all the churches, temples, synagogs and other expressions of man made concepts and dogma's, put together. The simplicity and innocence of His Love fueled striving's would rather close Him to the Infinite Divine Consciousness inside Himself.
