Inspired by her grandmothers who are residential school survivors, and being the mother of a young Indigenous child, Ashley Michel hopes to end intergenerational trauma. Only a year ago, she saw her own sister pass away from cirrhosis of the liver due to alcoholism. Ashley has no doubt in her mind that her sister's addiction was directly linked to intergenerational trauma and all the racism and stereotypes that her sister faced throughout her life until her very last moments at the hospital. With all of that in mind, Ashley is doing everything she can to create a better world for her daughter. By being a successful business owner, a talented artist, an eloquent speaker, and a loving mother, she inspires future generations to keep healing and building a world that is fair and where Indigenous culture is celebrated.
