In 2017, I strictly alternated between a standalone/non fiction book and a book from a series. I finished so many series that year :)

My priority series to finish is The Faithful and The Fallen series by John Gwynne. I'm on Ruin right now so I have a book and a half left. If I end up loving it (which I already do), I'll probably start Gwynne's other series, Of Blood and Bone. My TBR series that you also mentioned are The Dandelion Dynasty and A Chorus of Dragons ( the one with The Ruin of Kings). You have got me wanting to read The Ruin of Kings. haha Also, I haven't read the Wayward Pines books but I think FX or something did a Wayward Pines mini-series and it was so good.

A Chorus of Dragons is fantastic. 👌The third is my favorite, just because of the characters it focuses on, but they're all great. I only had slight issues with the first part of The Name of All Things, it took me a bit to connect with [potential spoilers], but overall... probably my favorite fantasy series. I’m super interested in seeing your reaction to the Terra Ignota series! They are my favorite books of all time by a considerable amount, but can be difficult to get into and definitely don’t work for everyone. But if they do work for you the journey is so worth it. Ada Palmer pulled off some incredible things with those books. I would just suggest really taking your time with them. And keep in mind that book 1 is entirely set up and book 2 is the payoff. (And then book 3 is set-up for book 4, and book 4 is the payoff for the whole series.) So if you’re not sure how you feel about it after book 1, I would suggest giving book 2 a try before deciding whether to continue with the series. Also, there’s graphic audio versions of the first two books (with books 3 & 4 in the works) and I HIGHLY recommend them. They make it way easier to follow the long political multi-character conversations and also add some interesting layers to the ways the story explores gender.

I strongly recommend reading Montego by Brian McClellan before In The Shadow of Lightning. I liked ItSoL okay, but I think I would have liked it a whole lot more if I had read Montego first because it introduces the characters. Love your videos. I read "The Dandelion Dynasty" at the begining of this year and it is now my favorite Fantasy series. I am so excited for "Labyrinth's Heart". I read back to back the other 2 volumes in the "Rook and Rose" trilogy this year. "The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi" reminded me why I fell in love with reading and the magic from the "1001 Arabian Nights". I was so excited for the conclusion to the "Between the Earth and the Sky" by Rebecca Roanhorse, but the final volume has been postponed for 2024. I also started Octavia E. Butler's "Xenogenesis", but I think I will leave it aside for a while and in 2024 I will try her "Paternmaster" series. I need to reread the first 2 volumes of "Pact and Patern" by J. T. Greathouse is preparation for the coclusion. I got an eARC and realised I forgot too much from volume 2. Happy reading to you!
