I think you should have taken Land Cruiser (Samson) as it can carry more storage, is more sophisticated than the Tacoma; 360 degree camera and turn assist and and a wider track which helps in snowy conditions. Moreover it’s also more comfortable !
@ExpeditionOverland
@ExpeditionOverland 4 жыл бұрын
@@maitreytelang2312 The only problem is that the Cruiser doesn't have inside living space. That is by far the most important thing on a trip like this. Rich and Ash are small, so the Tacoma is pretty comfy for them ;)

AMAZING!! There is something about the intro when Clay says “For our first ever Solo Series” and the circle Arrow in the Solo logo creates the “O” that really pumps me up for adventure!! I am active duty Military stationed In Korea (with no vehicle) and every week look forward to XO vids for that sense of exploration adventure that I want to do. There is no doubt @desktoglory was a great choice for this first Solo adventure. This series so far seems to really touch what an average adventurer (not that Ashley or Richard are average adventurers lol) can do....but delivered with the professional movie like quality and entertainment of an XO product! The Giordano’s amazing filming and storytelling with the Clay narrative is the perfect combination!! The episode really seems to relate to the average person (me!) that could just leave the house and explore with minimal preplanning and discover in abundance! Great work!!!

I've shipped my FJ from the U.S to Panama (back in 2014) and the exporting process was very smooth. However, importing the car into Panama was a bit of a hassle because the agents charged me the luxury vehicle import tax (23% being a 2010 vehicle). On November 2019, my wife and I shipped the FJ from Panama back to Florida (still had to pay more fees in Panama to export and lots of paperwork that only certified agents can do). In FL the importing process was nice and easy. Driving into Canada on December 21st, 2019, through the Buffalo border was also a very smooth process. Canadian officers were nice enough to even give me advise on where and how to register the FJ in Canada. So I think it all comes down to how moody the officer was feeling that day. Anyway, it is part of any overlanding adventure. Great they sorted it out.

I knew right away when the border crossing was brought up there would be an issue. As a Canadian that goes to the states often I feel that pain every single time. You'd think it would be easy to go back to your home country, but it never is. Coming back home to Canada is a nightmare.

I should have emailed you guys, XO. I've done a lot of research into that border-crossing nonsense as far as citizens importing vehicles. Somehow when I was watching the prep for the series, I forgot to give you guys a shout about it. Them being citizens of Canada flew over my head. Glad it worked out, and it's interesting how exactly it was sorted out. I know that I've looked into bringing Canadian cars into the US on a temporary basis as a US citizen. The US considers Canadians crossing the border in Canadian vehicles to be merely visitors. When a US citizen drives a Canadian vehicle into the US, it's considered an importation and triggers a bunch of paperwork. If the car isn't legally importable (say a Nissan Skyline), it's impossible. Totally legal for a Canadian citizen to drive it in; totally illegal for an American. The reason is that as an American citizen coming from Canada, you have no legal obligation to return, whereas a Canadian citizen visiting the US does have a limited period during which they can stay and they must thereafter return. The same thing goes for Canadians entering Canada; they would have had no legal obligation to return to the US (and thus might not bring the car back). I should have realized it would be a problem for them to drive into the Canada as citizens with an vehicle registered in the US. Canada surely considered it an import. I bet that ten-to-one, if that XO vehicle wasn't on commercial tags, they would have been denied entry even with an application for temporary import. I'm also not the least bit surprised no one (not even the border agents) knew how to handle the situation.
