A Box of Hikoki tools in for repair, as well as a few Bosch, Milwaukee, and i think a Sparky machine

Another box of tools to fix up, this time it's Hikoki tools and a Bosch GBH 2-26F drill. Plus, I have a few others.
The small g12stx grinder is no suprize, they are rarely worth fixing.
The G23ST is actually a decent tool for the money, but again, it can quickly become too costly to fix.
The Hikoki sds will be at least a month or 2 waiting on the steel ring to come in. It will also need the same clean and regressed like the bosch got.
The purple burnishing machine, I'm still not sure what brand it is. If you know, let me know in the comments.
And sure, we are all familiar with the mikwaikee grinder at this stage. 605 should be its nickname.
I know I have a makita in the cover pic, but the video was too long and couldn't fit it all in. So, I had to cut it out.

Dean, I pick tools up at several scrap yards, and am able to get a lot of them working again. Most of the time, the repairs are for minor things. People just don't know or care how to fix things these days. I did recently burn up an angle grinder, but it wasn't a name brand tool, and a new one is less than $30 USD, so I don't plan on replacing any parts on it. It can go back to the scrap yard.

I've seen videos on other channels where they divide the video into sections, and as you move the pointer over the red progress bar you can see the names they've given to each section. Thought that might be useful for the tool makes and model numbers. Haven't a clue how to do that but it could be useful I reckon. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and keep up the good work.

Some people will say if you buy two of course they will last twice as long, you have twice as many. But in reality the real savings comes in less frequent failures that bring you to a stop. Sometimes a machine fails and you do something else to get to the end of the day and go get another. But sometimes you snatch up a hammer to clear something that needs cleared NOW and that’s when the machine fails and leaves you having to go NOW
@TheVeryBFG
@TheVeryBFG 7 ай бұрын
I like the idea of rotating tools so they have a chance to cool down, but surely buying two and using them more kindly should make them last longer than twice? Two machines that together deliver three times as many work hours as a single machine would start to make financial sense.

A suggestion to improve your videos: your audio sometimes heavily leans to one side on headphones. For example in the outro talking part it is mostly coming from the right ear. If you have any way to switch the audio to mono channel or something like that it would not be as irritating when using headphones. Great pleasure seeing you fix all of these tools up!

I'm surprised people think it's worth sending in a budget tool for repair. At my local recycling centre on England the electronics skip is full of consumer grade power tools. You will not find expensive stuff like large demolition drills though. In places like central London it is worth checking out skips near building sites near completion. Good tools near end of life, or prosumer stuff like Milwaukee are sometimes binned by those on £500 a day.

QUESTIONS. I do quick services on our company iron workers tools. Cords, brushes, bearings and the like. If I cant fix it in around 15 minutes I'm under directive to dump it, which auctualy means I pull the good commonly needed parts for my parts stash. Maybe you dont show it but do you blow out all of the dirt and dust? I see you also don't surface or polish the commutator bars. Is it a waste of time to do so? My thinking is it could lengthen brush life. Do you see a reason to not always open grinder heads and grease them? Many I open appear under filled to begin with and have the pinion worn down, some really badly. I've for a number of years now used molly bearing grease (I love molly lube) to top up or grease most gears with no apparent issues. I don't have to worry about warrantys and i think factory grease at $100 a tube is crazy. Anyone have thoughts on any of this?😊

Love the longer length videos. If I may ask your opinion ? Which brand would you say is currently the best for heavy duty work ? Personally I used to swear by DeWalt, I had a cordless drill that lasted 30yrs and fell off scaffolding numerous times. It still worked brilliantly, I had to dispose of it as the batteries finally died (nm-hd) and you can no longer get them fixed or replaced. I started buying new DeWalt cordless tools but they are no way near as good and have been looking to change brand. A workmate uses hilti and they seem much stronger ?

Just wondering... You wouldn't happen to have documentation on the Black & Decker DNJ 84 drill by any chance? I was given one and it's working (kind of - weird sound and sparks) but it's missing some electronic thingy in the handle. From the little I could find on internet, there was some kind of small square black button on the side of the handle (like a second switch?) with a component behind (a capacitor, maybe a filter?) The only picture I found where I can see the inside part is too blurry. In mine, all that's left are the remnants of a tiny board behind. It's a model from the 80's so the chances of finding spare parts are close to zero, but I would like to know what it was and make it, provided I can find the wiring and values. Anyway, great channel, even if I struggle with your Irish accent quite often 😉. Greetings from France.
