Dude, this was awesome. This is the track that originally sold me on Nevermore, IMO the greatest American metal band of the 90s/00s. Thank you for the detailed breakdown of the themes and musical elements. Subscribed! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Gave a like to the Metalcore video, but am subbing for this one. Great analysis. The hubris of man never changes. Such an underrated band. A lot of people dislike Warrel's singing, but I've always enjoyed it.

I keep coming back to the intro to the solo whenever I practice or even pick up the guitar. Still can't play it clean up to speed though. Maybe one day.

Excellent! This is one of my all-time favourite songs. I love how Nevermore are really hard to pin down genre-wise. I've seen people call them Progressive, Power, Groove and even Epic Doom! They forged their own path and greatly expanded the sounds that bands in all genres could work with.

Excellent analysis behind this Nevermore song, how music along side so deep lyrics can narrate as a whole this cruel event occurred in China. Greetings 🤟🏼🤟🏼

Thank you for this . . . They were one of my TOP 10 Metal bands and I was able to catch them on 4 album tours. On this particular tour (my 2nd) "Dead Heart in a Dead World Tour" (at the Key Club on Sunset blvd., 2nd leg tour), *Opeth* opened for them on their now classic album "Blackwater Park", and was the 1st time Opeth made it to the West Coast. Mikael Akerfeldt was not the "stand-up" comedian at that time, as he was a bit timid and shocked that they had such a positive reaction at the show. All he would say was; "Thank you, thank you very much". Warrel Dane and Jeff Loomis had such a huge stage presence . . . but then there was "Curran Murphy", their Tour 2nd Lead/Rhythm Guitarist, I knew nothing about him, but HIS stage presence was very memorable. He was soo damn aggressive, you can see a bit of it in the video (the actual tour video, the other is with Jag Panzer & former Megadeth guitarist Chris Broderick), he'd look into the audience intensely as he played, and would mouth some of the lyrics and give off some super intense "stank faces" as he did the chugging riffage! I imagine, if I were to play guitar, that is how I would do it! Another cool moment was when Nevermore did "The Heart Collector" toward the end of the show, and had people from the front-row come up on stage to sing the track! I can remember a cute longhaired petite brunette who sang every word and banging her head, she was a hottie :D. I hope Loomis gets together with Van Williams again, that man is a MACHINE and one of the most underrated Drummers out there. People need to hear his 2 solo albums and the Instrumental project "Conquering Dystopia" with guitarist Keith Merrow. - Rest in Peace Warrel Dane & Tim Calvert (2nd Guitarist on "Dreaming Neon Black" and former member of Forbidden)
