CAPS wasn't first 2D animation software, Marc Levoy develop the Computer Animation System for Hanna-Barbera in shows in the 1980s such as Yogi's Treasure Hunt & The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries.

I don't mind your using those clips from my video explaining the computer animation I did for the first Star Wars feature, but I think you should credit it correctly. It was done in the late 70s ('76 to be exact), but it was not ILM The first incarnation of ILM, the one in LA, had no CG capability. I was subcontracted to do that work which I did in a special computer graphics lab developed by Tom DeFanti at the University of Illinois in Chicago. It was **after** the success of Star Wars that Lucas brought in Catmull et al to set up his in-house Graphics Group. So did "Lucas revolutionize computer graphics in the late 70s" ?? The revolutionary computer technology that I used was developed by Tom DeFanti. --- Larry Cuba

I recently asked a relative at home, "What would have happened to PIXAR, had Ed, John, and the rest went to Bill Gates instead of Steve Jobs?". She basically said they would have lived a few years with the short films, but they would be out of business before they could finish the CAPS system. John Lasseter is a computer animation legend, I don’t care what they accuse him of, that shouldn’t take anything away from his accomplishments as a movie maker. He did the Stained Glass Knight. He did Toy Story. He blew our minds.
