Local urban legend: Many years ago when telephones were upright boxes with a manual ringer to contact the telephone central swithcboard operartor to ask for a number, a blacksmith got so tired from his wife yakking hours on end, nor cleaning or cooking, that he attached 5 pounds of lead to the telephone handle so that the wife would shorten her calls significantly.

Very interesting! Addiction is part of human nature. Human beings and possibly animals too, can get addicted to anything that makes them feel good and happy. Not everybody gets addicted to the same things. Love is also an addiction.

And before radio it was thought that reading romance novels destroyed women’s brains! People can panic about anything. Romance novels, comic books, radio, disco, rap music, tv, horror movies….
