I watched this video with Mom and Dad at there house today. Too cold for them to get out so we spent the afternoon watching your videos. Dad said he remembered when there wasn’t a bridge over the river. He said it was just a ford. His Dad logged back in those mountains a long time ago. My Daddy is 77 yrs old now. We understand the white bags hanging on the trees cause we do the same thing. They measure how big the flood was. We live on down the Cumberland River on the Knox/Whitley Co line. Enjoyed this video very much.

2 old cars belonged to my Papaw Brock. Over 100 families once lived on Foresters Creek before the mine operation came about. Would like to know what year that happened exactly. My Dad was born in 1940 and I think it was after that. People were forced to move. You were wise to turn around when you did. There's a guard shack. You can't go past shack unless your name is on a list to visit 1 of the cemeteries back there. I've been 1 time to pay respects to my people buried there. We didn't stay long either because there had been a recent bear sighting.

You should go to Benham, Ky. It’s a beautiful coal mine town and has an awesome museum. There’s a great park with some outstanding monuments to the miners. The Old Benham School House has been restored and is a B&B. Your viewers would live it. So much to see on the back roads. Thank you.

I like visiting just to spend the night at the old school house that has been made into motel. The place should be marked on maps if only it on account of their modern day usage of it's historical architecture as apposed to demolishing said buildings.

My mom's name was Maryann Chadwick. Her mother's name was Mercedes Durham Daniel Chadwick and her mother's name was Sarah Ellen "Ella" Daniel. That would mean her mother's name was Elizabeth "Bettie" Helton. Not only are some of those names probably familiar or quite possibly well-known...they also have roots buried deep in the hollers of Wallins Creek, Coldiron, and in the dark clay of our own Daniels mountain cemetery.

2007 goes into the backside of Wallins Creek. Back in the 70's I hauled coal from Wallins. The bridge couldn't hold the weight, do we had to exit through Coldiron. Before that we had to drive empty over the Wallins bridge and drive through the river when loaded. There was a slide that derailed some coal cars last month on 2007 road. I like the real coyote instead of the picture. I hope to see some of the mining disasters. Most are blocked. It is a shame that we can't place a wreath at the Scotia explosion where I be live there are 13 miners still entombed.
