I show you how I diagnosed an evaporator temp sensor/probe on my 2011 F250 6.7 Powerstroke. It's a pretty easy task to determine failure on these. Hope this helps you if you are searching for a way to do this!

Thanks for the video I have had the same problem. local shop had me replace A/C compressor. After I replaced the A/C compressor shop over filled Freon which did not allow clutch To engage. Then I was told the A/C compressor was a faulty part. Luckily I stumbled upon your video. Put back old compressor changed evap temp sensor. Now works like a charm

Great vids. Hope you didn’t have to take to dealer. My dealer’s diag skills are a joke. Was having same ac issue and took it for diag. First time they said “no issue. Just needs Freon.” Worked for a day, then started blowing hot again. Took it back to dealer for another diag. This time they said the entire system needs to be replaced and they quoted me $5,500 (evap core, compressor, lines, and condenser). Seems to me they haven’t a clue what’s really wrong with it, and their plan is just to replace it all on my dime to ensure the issue is taken care of. That said, will use your vids to do a proper diag myself.

Hope it helps! It seems it's very hard to get skilled dealer diagnostic these days. We have the same types of issues here. They just want to throw money at it to rule out what they cant diagnose.

Chevys have that same issue. Cutting the hole works PERFECT for Ford and Chevrolet.

Pretty common issue is the fan clutch it will cause a high side head pressure . Usually you want it to be ambient temp times 2 . So 100 degree day 200-250 high side . Low side will hover around 40 ish . Put a water hose on your condenser to get the head pressure down , also your truck has a expansion valve not orifice tube which is known to have issues .

Hey man, thank you for posting this. I did the 'cut into the evaporator box', replaced the probe, sealed up the hole, and my a/c has never worked better (including the dual climate); 2011 F250, 211k miles.

Lincoln. Im having the same on off cycling problem with my AC compressor. I cut into my box and can feel where the sensor wire goes under the evaporator core. Was it hard to get the sensor out of the core? Any suggestions?
@lincolnmquinton2152
@lincolnmquinton2152 Жыл бұрын
@@n4189p mmm, as I recall the first time I cut the hole it was a little small for me to navigate or see so I made the opening bigger. You can see the probe attached to the fins of the evaporator and it just pulls off. But the wire goes from the probe up through the top of the top of the box and then connects to the connector. I think I just pulled the probe, cut the wire and left the old cable. I routed the new probe wiring through the hole that I created. Cut a large piece of cardboard to cover the hole and then used some HVAC tape to seal it up real good (I used a lot of tape) Hope that helps?! Holler back if not…

@@lincolnmquinton2152 did you cut where that sticker was? Is there some room for forgiveness as to where the coil is to not cut into it or what tool did you use?

if you have ac pressure getting that high on the high side you either have a restriction in the ac system or you have an air flow problem with the condenser.

If the EVAP temp sensor is bad, can one symptom be that the compressor clutch won’t engage at all. It’s the issue I’m having and just was curious if I might get lucky and fix my ac on the first try. But I do t usually have that kind of luck, lol.
@honestreviewsandhowtos

I'm with you man. You're probably not that lucky, but it could definitely cause it not to engage. Good luck!

Can I use other car brand evaporator temperature on my car(Mazda 3). Like I will use the evap sensor of Ford. Will it work..? I will just replace the socket to fit on my Mazda 3.. I hope you read my comment. Thank you..😊🙏

It might, but you'd have to test it out of course to make sure your vehicle is able to read the temperature correctly.

So your A/C was still blowing a little bit of cold air at 76° but temp sensor was faulty & reading 46°? If so that might be my problem because I just replaced everything inside the dash.
@honestreviewsandhowtos
@honestreviewsandhowtos Жыл бұрын
Yes temp sensor was reading WAY off. If it was just a few degrees it shouldn't matter, but it'll definitely make a difference if it's off by a lot.

I’m in the same predicament w my 2010 lariat as well. Replaced the compressor and flushed the condenser already. Month later and it’s blowing hot again. Low pressure line is warm to touch. Betting this is my issue
@quintriggins6557
@quintriggins6557 2 жыл бұрын
@@johns7942 I just did the resistor hack this morning. I went from 47-48 degree vent to 39 on highway after about 10 minute test drive. I just cleaned my evaporator & condenser coils, evacuated the system, installed a new TXV, recharge with exact (24 oz) amount of 134a, and no change. My ambient & cabin air sensors were okay. Will just have to watch air flow so evaporator doesn’t freeze. 100 degrees + every day now, so not too worried about that now. 😊
