Walk With Wallace

6 жыл бұрын

A 3 day wild camping and hiking adventure in the Cairngorms as Kevin, Stephen and I hike to Ben Macdui and wild camp below the summit of Carn Etchacan. We visit a developing snow tunnel. Next day we drop down into the Lairig Ghru and visit Corrour bothy then do the Cairn Toul to Braeriach traverse. Eventually wild camping in the Rothiemurchus forest. A tough but fun couple of days covering around 50km of distance.

Walk With Wallace 👣 yeah I’d like to get up high. I’ve run the Lairig Ghru a couple of times, but I’d like to explore loch etcheachan, braeriach, maybe a wee summit camp. It’s such a powerful place, quite different to west coast mountains I’ve done. Keep up the great videos mate, maybe see you out on the hills. Cheers.

Another great video Robin, really enjoying going through your list and watching them all! I’m planning a trip to the Cairngorms in the next couple of weeks and will be traversing from Braeriach to Cairn Toul. Question for you - just how easy is that route across the tops? I’m a bit nervous at times with heights but from your video it looks like you can take a route that avoids taking you right next to the edge? Cheers.
@WalkWithWallace
@WalkWithWallace 2 жыл бұрын
Hi John, it's a cracking route, you'll really enjoy it. You can avoid the edges as it's pretty broad on the west/south aspects. Just watch your navigation if the cloud drops.

@WalkWithWallace
@WalkWithWallace 3 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, I can't remember the exact location now. But it wasn't that far from the Cairngorm Club footbridge coming down from the Lairig Ghru. You can't miss it as it was the first grassy pitch next to the path.

Great film Robin, That was some few days you had! Robin when you descended into the Lairig Ghru was that near Carn a` Mhaim by any chance? I want to bag it as a single day out but i want to head back via the Lairig Ghru. I know there is a way down from it but i cant see any posts on YT. PS You are correct about Braeriach`s plateau, Stretches on for miles. Bet it has caught few out in the past. Thanks mate take care, peter.

Cheers bud, this was a great trip. We still talk about it now. 😆 No, we descended on the other side of Ben Macdui, however Kev and I have descended down to the Lairig Ghru after doing Carn a'Mhaim. We headed down before you start heading up Ben Macdui. I didn't vlog that trip for some reason.
