Amber Rose comes from a self hating white and mixed Cape Verdean family in Philly. She said her mother and her uncles aunt were raised not to know their CV culture on purpose because her grandparents wanted their children and grandchildren to be raised white Italian. Amber Rose said in Vlad interviews that she was raised Italian and her family carried themselves like Italians too. She is not even biracial her mother's family are multiracial CVerdeans. First time watching your video and i really enjoyed it. You explained it well. Some people and act like leaches and take and take until they find another source. I think our society is becoming more individualistic to the point where a lot of people are just looking at how a situation benefits them. Not realizing that we need connection too and that only happens when we listen and care for others.

This in a nutshell is the issue with Tyla. I feel like she is being pushed by the media on black Americans and those who bring up their concerns about her seeking black support while proudly stating how black she is not, are villainized for admiting their reservations. I believe she is talented but I'm tired of every black adjacent celebrity being elevated over people who wholeheartedly embrace their blackness and are willing to ride and die for the culture. The amount of verbal abuse aimed at specifically black Americans who don't blindly choose to accept her is insane. The fact that Tyla after the fall of apartheid in SA still rather be coloured instead of black tells you alot about how much privilege is attached to that categorization particularly in her home country. The issue is not how she identifies but why. It's about a bigger convo about how our communities are still infused with anti-blackness and how many of our racially ambiguous brothers and sisters and even some of our dark-skinned brothers and sisters continue to be quiet and complicit in perpetuating anti-black ideologies. Also how many non-black people in SA benefitted from their adjacency to whiteness. Many people are aware how in the Indian/Asian communities covet whitness and are very anti-black. I read a comment on a post that asked why if she is actually mostly of indian descent she is not going to indian stations to promote. IMO it's simple she's too black, black Americans are trendsetters for the whole world ànd she wants that rubber stamp because whites here might like her but they'd never elevate her over the likes of Miley and Taylor, and most importantly she wants that American money. We are told to stop inviting everyone with a little rhythm to the cookout, protect the culture, support those who support you and when we do people get nasty.
@MK-hh1voАй бұрын
But the issue with Tyla is, like it or not, *she looks Black* so she can't partake of the "privilege" of ambiguity unless she declares that she's "other".
@Key-Key444Ай бұрын
I’m not a fan of Tyla. She’s pretty yes, but I think we’re tired of seeing your typical pretty pretty “light skinned” put on a pedestal, shoved down our throats and kicking darker skinned women down after everyone has raised them up. Then you get called “jealous” or “mad.”😂😂😂 🥱 We don’t want it. Give us “Aqyila” or somebody 😅
@MIA-fq1diАй бұрын
Tyla saying she isn't black but Coloured has got nothing to do with her thinking she's better than blk ppl 🤦🏿♀️ that's her race in South Africa she knows in her country she isn't considered a black woman, She literally acknowledges her black ancestry all the time but she knows she isn't blk

Zoe Kravitz is a great example of dipping in and out of blackness…great video lovely makeup!
@Men-Rights-Activist22 күн бұрын
Zoe Kravitz has always said she was a mixed race woman until black Twitter tried to cancel her because she said she didn’t identify with the black community. Everyone made her come to the cookout anyway when she told y’all she was going to bring potato salads, and casseroles. She was clearly happy as just identifying as biracial. Now in order not to alienate her black fan base she has identified as a black woman while looking nothing like one

Just bcuz Amber got treated as a light skin trophy arm candy does not mean she was accepted in the wider stance. She was always "someone's girlfriend" she was never just appreciated for who she was by herself. You're giving a COMPLETE excuse to misogyny "for some reason who black men pour into...blah blah blah is who we all pour into" HELLOOOOO That's the man as validation for HER existence. When Kanye dumped her y'all was on Kanye's side BECAUSE he is a (famous) Man. MAYBE YOU are too young to remember ALL THE HATE Amber got from black women once she split with Kanye?

I hope it's apparent that Amber Rose is not all biracial women. Maria Carey collaborated with Black artists despite her label's negative attitude. Tracy Ellis Ross has worked on shows that center Black successful women. Biracial women can be proper allies, some just choose to be rotten.

I’m literally Egyptian (“racially ambiguous”) and saying that black people dont accept you “because ur mixed” is absolute bullshit. I’ve apparently been more accepted than her and my multi-ethnic black friends literally explained my diaspora to me and why it’s important to spread acceptance and for communities to support each other. It simply and culturally does not make sense, it boils down to there’s a problem just with her thats able to change but the excuses, overcompensation, and avoidance isn’t changing her and everyone’s aware of that.
