'A Catch' - English Royalist Song

'A Catch' is a notable piece celebrating the restoration of Charles II to the English throne. The restoration took place in 1660 after the horrendous Commonwealth regime under Oliver Cromwell. Charles II's return marked the reestablishment of the monarchy, bringing an end to the Interregnum.
Cavalier poets, were known for their support of the royalist cause, and their works often reflected themes of loyalty, monarchy, and the celebration of the Stuart dynasty. The lyrics of 'A Catch' praise Charles II, expressing joy and relief at the return of the monarchy and the Kings health.
Recording done by the band ‘Strawhead’ I don’t own the music in any way.

Fun Fact: In the Union and confederacy during the civil war identified with parliamentarians(the Union) and for the confederate upperclass(Cavaliers) this was because the North's original immigrants were anti royalist puritans and Quakers, while the South was settled by pro royalist gentry and their descendants.

Southern cavalrymen, in particular, held a great belief that they were the true descendants of the Cavaliers, men of the saddle who were noble and knightly, fighting the good fight with honour. Many Cavaliers were exiled from/expatriates of Roundhead-dominated England to the future Southern states such as Virginia and the Carolinas. I know for a fact that Robert E. Lee was descended from a Cavalier who left for Virginia in the face of Roundhead tyranny. If you ask me, men like Stonewall Jackson and General Forrest are truly worthy of claiming the honour of their Cavalier forefathers!

Unfortunately, this song was not written by Alexander Brome, but it appeared on a 17th century collection of songs and poems called _Merry Drollery Compleat_ compiled by Joseph Woodfall Ebsworth under the same title on page 220, also titled _A Catch_ (although some of the songs in this collection are titled similarly, between _N'er Trouble Thy Self_ and _Calm Was The Evening._ The poem you are looking for is the one here below, as follows: _Let's leave off our labour, and now let's go play,_ _For this is out time to be jolly;_ _Our plagues and our plaguers are both fled away,_ _To nourish our griefs is but folly_ _He that won't drink and sing,_ _Is a Traytor to's King,_ _And so's he that does not look twenty years younger;_ _We'l look blith and trim,_ _With rejoycing at him_ _That is the restorer, and will be the Prolonger,_ _Of all our felicity and health,_ _The joy of our hearts, and increase of our wealth,_ _'Tis he brings our trading, our trading brings riches,_ _Our riches brings honors, at which every mind itches,_ _And our riches bring sack, and our sack brings us joy,_ _And our joy makes us leap, and sing_ Vive le Roy. One last thing: at 0:41 and 2:04, lines 7-8 should be “Although thy stocking be made of silk, / Thy knees shall touch the ground” while the last line at both 0:55 and 2:20, “For Anon” should be “All or None” in the original.
