I can't believe you just had an interview with Brandon Sanderson! This was special. Brandon Sanderson has always been this vague intimidating figure in my imagination but he just genuinely seems like a normal guy in the interview. I would have never imagined him like this.

I feel like I’m often praising KZfaqrs on their interview skills. But this is a step above almost anything I’ve seen on KZfaq. The questions you three came up with were that perfect blend of unique,timely,simple, profound that gets the interviewee to express ideas we all really want to understand or get their perspective on. Your comfort and professionalism. Everything was just spectacular. Great job!

All his love for Anne McCaffrey just warms my heart--I grew up on her Dragonriders series and it's so foundational to my love of fantasy, the fact it's his too is just... 🥰. I wonder if that's why Rodge's last name is also McCaffrey, his way of paying homage to the person who built his love for the girl+dragon trope, into the boy that helped rebuild her dragon. Just love it.

I love that Brandon's favorite character was Perrin Aybara; when I got to Sanderson's parts of WoT I was worried that Perrin's story was going to be set aside for all the other plot lines that had to be settled and I was not disappointed with how it was handled.
@vishanthfishy
@vishanthfishy 2 жыл бұрын
agreed. i think getting a writer who was more of a perrin fan was great, at that point perrin was overshadowed and Mat and Rand were getting more attention. Sanderson really balanced WoT out near the end imo and this is coming from a Mat fan

Talking about YA and classification of stories. My kids are YA, but reading YA fantasy is one of my guilty pleasures. I love seeking out those books and reading them. I call it my brain in neutral reading, when I just want to read to enjoy without thinking about the books. Love wheel of time and cosmere books, but I can't read those when I just want to read without thinking about what I am reading
